How to fuck up your computer Pt 2

Just install XP's Service Pack 3 then enjoy the regular beeping as it attempts to reboot over and over again. Marvellous!

I'm nearly done with a clean install of XP (incl SP2).

Did you ever try one of the unfinished SP3 versions and if so did you delete them BEFORE installing SP3?
I had no problem since I always deleted the earlier versions and have now the full blown XP SP3 from the MS site.

Me neither. Two words when used in conjunction are to be feared. New and Microsoft.

SP3 doesn't get downloaded and installed automatically, does it? If so, how can I stop it?

    ----------

Edit: Sorry I know how to do that. Brain fart.

That would be version 3300 RC2 - and that was the fekker that screwed your computer? I had that version before and hat deleted it when the last version 5512 came and installed that one. I had no problem with 3300 and after deletion absolute none with 5512.

I'm just debating whether to try and install the Intel Chipset again. These fuckers always disable my USB ports, which is a bitch, 'cos the mouse freezes. But, I think not having them might have something to do with Printer plug & play not working.

a bit OT but there's a conceptual problem with TOR, that is anyone wishing to spy on TOR users can just set up an end node and snoop all they want... packets may be encrypted inside the TOR network, but if I set up an exit node which allows people inside the TOR network to access the outside world I can listen all I want since packets to the outside are not encrypted. In addition an exit node needs to know who sent the packets, so I can trace them to their origins as well. Clearly they can't listen to https or other end-to-end encrypted traffic - but they still know who you are and where you went.

For that reason the usual suspects are all running exit nodes, U.S. secret services, the Chinese government, and so on.

The problem is that TOR doesn't establish a network of trust and even if it did, it would be rather easy to infiltrate.

It's still a great concept but buying VPN access from a commercial company seems like a better way to go...

    never had that problem.

i found it very useful when tt&t were blocking empornium.

it at least allowed you in to download a torrent, just switch it back off after that.
