It is clear it's not just my true connection here.
In the internetcafe internet was creepingly slow as well and they were using another provider.

Since a few hours, there seems to be a general internet 'freeze'.

How bad is it at your place?

Call and complain, and complain and complain. Finally they will tell you that the "pipe" is not big enough and they have more users than they can handle. They will also tell that the Thai government caches everything so they can investigate people (sores user's history of porn sites being viewed and anything they do not approve of etc) and this slows things way down.

Then they will sell you a business package for 3000 baht a month and everything will be fine.

Go down to their main office with a sign announcing there poor service and one of the VP's will fall at your feet, give you a few months free and promise you the world. That's what I did - farang pud mak!!!

Mine sucks but I think its something to do with the 512k wifi at my apt. Highest speed available......AAARRRGGGHHH.....and they've got the nerve to pillage me 600bt a month for it.

Actually, here in Bangkok (Thonburi side) internet had been unworkably slow since about 1700 today.(browsing the forum at stoneage speed, posting taking a few attempts)
However, after posting the message on Teakdoor the problem seems to be resolved now (really), internet connectivity is back to 'normal'

I will remember this for next time!

There does seem to be an internet connectivity issue with Thailand today, as 19 out of 20 internet phone calls to and from BKK have failed...

Also, on a separate note, the Nationwide ATM cards do not seem to work in BKK today. Anyone else withdrawn using Nationwide in Thailand today?

CAT telecom told me the IIG was down sunday/monday. Seems to be back up now. The IIG is the by far biggest link out of Thailand so when that goes down everything slows to a crawl immediately.

I was downloading at similar speeds, but I like very obscure and unpopular torrents. Went to thebox and picked a popular torrent and it's coming at 90-95 kB/s (I'm on a 1 MB connection)
