I've 'inherited' my youngest daughter's Kindle, which is very kind of her as I do love to read but I've always disliked the notion of not having a book in hand.

So, I tried it out with some purchased books - it's actually quite good.

Now, Amazon allows some off-site content providers like Gutenberg but I can't seem to load or transfer files from my laptop to it to read.

How do I either:

* download non-Amazon books on the Kindle

* transfer files (mobi, epub and convert to mobi) from my laptop to the Kindle

Yes, I've googled but can't get a workable solution . . . and I don't really know how the Kindle works, in terms of creating folders, deleting stuff, connecting to the internet etc...

IT - not too bad

Kindle - suck

Thanks
