    Technology! Bah!

    Help!!!
Many many years ago I thought myself as a competent IT professional.
Just had mobile store set up the wife’s smart 3G phone as a WIFI hotspot with site name password etc?
I have an 11yo laptop from which I am sure I have accessed WIFI in the past?.
Told the machine to search/find WIFI connection..Zip, nada. Frick!! Do I need anuvva new laptop?
Another question..Can I connect the wife's smart phone via USB to our semi smart 47” TV so she can view her You tube stuff thereon?

Way too old and lazy and bored for this shit..just want to download movies/You tube/news and documentaries etc at a reasonable speed FFS so I can view on a separate 27in TV .

It is unlikely that your "Data" allowance would allow you to watch many movies. Using a mobile phone as an Internet link uses a lot of battery too. You need a conventional broadband connection to allow her to watch all that she wishes, one provided via a land line.

Wife spends hours watching YouTube movies/etc....sometimes a bit of buffering but that does not seem faze her..

Hahaha..My French mate loaded my 500 GB drive with about 100+ movies all French without subtitles, my schoolboy French is useless! Bit like watching a ‘silent’ TV in a bar…

She'd better do that with her phone wifi connected to your house wifi, doing it over 3G will cost you.
What did you intend to use the phone hotspot for?
Serving other wifi client with internet from her 3G connection will also cost you.
