This cartoon got me to thinking.
Is this a possibility?
Can people use public wifi to access my computer when I'm at say starbucks or the airport or some other wifi location?

Often wondered that myself , not that I use wifi as I do not use a "smart" phone and no wifi near village.
The nefarious can do many things if they infiltrate a WiFi router in a coffee shop. I had a phone that was attacked via Bluetooth in the Seattle airport after I accidentally left it enabled. Had tons of junk mail and other files in the phone and had to do a factory reset to get it working again. Some guy must have been sitting there or walking around with the attack phone.
You Make Your Own Luck
Ah how we have lost innocence! In the good ole days someone who Bluejacked your phone would simply leave a message saying "You have been bluejacked"!
This will help if you are worried![]()

I think that's a network, rather than a website.
you should be using HTTPS which means your data will be transmitted encrypted
sites used to use HTTPS for the login/password and then drop back to normal HTTP until it was pointed out that the emails are being sent in plain text etc
a MITM ( man in the middle ) attack can be performed if the have control of the router - or any other hop on the way - but you will see an exception in the form of the cert being incorrect and advising you not to proceed ( unless it is the NSA , GHCQ , ABC , DEf ETC )
just ensure you have the HTTPS in the address bar when you are doing anything except for browsing - there is the HTTPS everywhere plugin for firefox also which will force the browser to HTTPS if the site supports it.
blah de blah blah bah blah
I would be inclinded to think they would just reacharoundOriginally Posted by Dillinger
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
Teakdoor is HTTP with no S on my address bar
