    Great free antivirus

Having been broke the last few years I had to scratch around for free stuff. Thought I'd share my experience for what it's worth.

Been running for at least two years with a combo of Webroot Secureanywhere (not free but I keep running into keys on the inet ) and Avast free.

The two have kept me clean and have had no impact on performance. Very light and great detection.

Webroot is a tiny cloud based antivirus with virtually zero impact and excellent detection rates. Very impressive product. Works differently in how it detects threats to other antivirus programs. I tried Bitdefender and ditched it quickly. Same with Kaspersky.

Here's a free 6 month trial for Webroot.

Because it is a cloud based av it plays well with other av's. No problems together with Avast.

Tried those but find them a bit heavy, like most AV's. Webroot scans very fast and is totally inobtrusive and extremely light. Been running 3 pc's on it. You should give it a try.

On antimalware, I see some still recommend S&D. It is terrible. Even Malwarebytes I've dumped lately. Find SAS much better, cleans out the crap cookies regularly as well.

Nice one, thank you. This has helped clean up quite a few laptops.

I've got one computer that's been running the free version of AVG for four years now with zero problems...but as Necron said, don't click on stupid shit and generally speaking, you won't have a problem.

Yeah but, your internet is so slow that if you had an inkling that a virus was coming down through the interweb you'd have time to run to the wall and pull the phone plug out before it could complete it's damage.
