    Slow, slow aircard, HELP

Before I go postal on my computer, any ideas.
About 6 days ago my DTAC air card went into go slow, not that it was fast before, but down to 35 kps, too slow for Facebook.
DTAC is up and down here all the time, 2 bars normally and still 2 bars, but little download speed.

Got sick of waiting for it to come back, so got an AIS air card, good signal 4 bars, but only 50 kps.
Tried reloading the cards, ran virus checks etc, to no avail.
Phoned DTAC to complain, may as well have phoned father Christmas, no joy.

Question is, 2 different cards, same problem, is it the computer, or the signal.
No one uses computers here, all phones, hoping one of the wife's cousins can bring a lap top around to test the cards, but that could be days.

    Any ideas, thanks . Jim

Only decent speeds I've gotten in the sticks have been from true.

Strange you should say that, my little girl just got a True phone today, streaming YouTube.
Don't want to have to buy another aircard and guess you can't use a True sim card in a DTAC or AIS dongle. Jim

I would suggest trying Auslogics internet optimiser.
It used to be on FileHippo but you my have to search around to get it without a spam downloader.

Couldn't find it on the Auslogics page, maybe they stop giving it out, but there was some info that might help you..

    How to Improve Internet Speed

You can get it here, but probably will have to download their downloader then clean up after.

    Download Auslogics Internet Optimizer Free

How many GB did you purchase? I upped mine to 12 GB and the speed has increased significantly. Cost is nothing really, 800 baht/mo.

When you open the aircard, the second page tells you how many Gb you have left.
    check it out Jim.

True has significantly upped it's non 3g speeds.
Before I was getting 80kps ish after the 3g limit was reached, now it is consistently in the 2 to 400kps range after the 3g limit has been used.

Thanks Neo, will try that link, other things no effect.
Itnt, 3G is but a dream out here, it's allegedly 7 km away.

Just a though, does DTAC and AIS share towers.

N99 how much does true cost by the month, a new aircard may be the go, get my TV off the net. At these speeds a week for a 1 hour show.

    Thanks all.

True is 899 baht or something for 5 gig
But it's the default speed that is the issue.
DTAC has a special atm for 12 gig but it doesnt help if the service in you area is crap.
If your lass can stream youtube, you have a good True signal strength.
After my 3g is used up it takes me about an hour and a quarter to buffer a one our streaming tv show.

In Bangkok, our condo had a mobile tower on the roof, so the signal strength couldn't have been better. However with a usb dongle, my internet connection got so slow (it eventually locked up entirely) I gave up on it and got a landline connection with True.

Someone explained to me that the dongle used the mobile phone network, and that mobile phone signals somehow got priority.
    This may be your problem.

Jim, I think you may be fuk'd - although the TRUE option may be your only realistic option. If somebody is streaming video on the TRUE card then Bob's your uncle. Try Neo's sw fix, you never know your luck, but more likely to be the actual speed limits due to the system (you're in the middle of nowhere...).

I have the same problem in NN, and that's quite close to BKK/the local town - had to spend 8,000 baht to get an antenna built...

    ^ very average.

You may have given me the reason it has died, Dtac was find, if slow, could download a TV show in about 3 hours.
Just remembered, some time back looked at getting a fast net, only option was WiFi with the tower. This meant a special antenna, local school uses this system.
If someone has done this, they would steal the signal and I would gets what's left, True may be my only hope, but I notice phones seem to work faster for some reason.
Dongle as high up on a lead as it can go without a booster.

The school has Winet which is not wifi but a purpose built system that has nothing to do with your dongle.
If they can get it, you most likrly can too, it's only 800 a month for a 10mgps connection. As good as ADSL.

These remote [living in the sticks] situations have been discussed at length in the past here.
The rule of thumb of increasing one's efficiency and speed will be to install a hardwire phone unit and remote service box/antenna.

As it stands today, the Thai systems are still underdeveloped - notebooks/laptops. It's not that they can't, the cunts don't want to.

If he can get a landline put in then fast adsl will be great, but... Antenna works well most of the time, but has high upfront costs. Jim needs to invite Baldrick around for a long weekend, get him a couple of beers (cheap as possible) and let him lose with a ladder, coconut, plates/pans, wire and a packet of silver foil!

I always thought the school, forestry base etc used a government system didn't realize it was open to the public. Worth a look into, but will give true a try first.

No, it's vastly superior to a dongle.
Ask TOT or CAT if you can get it first.

It may be they don't have a service as people with a landline ADSL connection have used the same tech to resell their connection to neighbors, but if you can get it it's miles better than a mobile connection and cheaper.

rather than waiting for an adserver to process your request and serve you +kB of add it just bypasses the request and continues to process the hml page layout and render your page

how can that be slower ?

when I have to browse the internet on a non personal computer - like work - I am amazed at the slowness of it all
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

    worth a try

Frequently web connection problems can be traced to a corrupted DNS cache. Flushing this cache is an easy fix to many of these problems. This is how to flush the cache in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Here is how to fix that corrupted DNS cache.

    1. Click the Microsoft Vista Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen
    2. Click All Programs
    3. Click Accessories
    4. RIGHT-click on Command Prompt
    5. Select Run As Administrator
    6. In the command window type the following and then hit enter: ipconfig /flushdns
    7. You will see the following confirmation: Windows IP Configuration Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

    Google it.
Once ads have cached they take no time to load.
Adblock however does take time to parse the html of a page and figure out what to block and how to display the page.
