New Phone decisions

I need to upgrade my phone. I have a Galaxy S2 which I can't unlock because it is on Korean networks...what a piss-off.

I'm thinking of going with either the Galaxy S3 or the Nexus 5 or 6 (which just came out).
A lot depends on how much I want to pay I suppose.

Any recommendations for phones or between the ones I mention would be helpful.

I am working on a review of my Blackberry Z10.

Pro's
Cheap
Technically not far different from phones costing 50% more.
Easy to use
Integration of social media to contact list works well (but see below)
Diary notifies people on your contact list of any changes to meetings automatically.
You can take the rise out of people who spend twice as much on an iPhone.
It has a Z in the name.

Con's
Flimsy plastic casing..you need to buy a holder for it;
The company is in difficulty which may limit software upgrades.
If you have two people with the same name on your contact list it jumbles their contact details.
Apparently there is an issue with the camera app which means the camera doesn't work initially, so you need to get the app upgraded at the time of purchase.

I paid £89 for a Moto G from Tesco, locked to their network. Then paid £2 for the unlock code from Ebay

The s2 codes are around £8 on ebay

Your S2 must be a few years old now, the camera is shite compared to more recent phones, so if you take many pics... My wife has an S2, compared to my Sony xperia Z the camera is awful.

Well.... I need a phone no matter, but i can't use a non smartphone after being spoiled for a year in Korea with a smart phone. Now I have shot my slider phone against the wall once already.

I'm sure some here can understand where I'm coming from. I still wouldn't use my phone all that much, but good to have in case of emergencies or quick date or such.

Thanks Troy, but I have tried that and even brought it to a place that unlocks phones. They can't find it on their network because it is locked to a Korean carrier. Does that make sense?

I'm impressed that you have a blackberry as that company has lost so much money and business. I'm surprised they are still selling BB's.

I can see the BB being a great phone for business people and email/data entry.
I worked in customer service with cell phones for a few years, so I am not a dud when it comes to cell phones.

have no idea if that's he same with newer models, but I refuse to spend more than £50 on anything I'm going to stick in my pocket.... see enough idiots with cracked £300 phones that they can't afford to replace

With the company in trouble the phones are being sold at firesale prices. I have had a green from someone who picked one up in MBK for ThB 8,000.

In Bangkok BB have a fully functioning service centre on the top floor of Terminal 21; the same floor as the cinema complex. Very helpful people and a good telephone, especially at that price. The hassle I am seeing someone have with a ThB 27,000 iPhone 5s beggars belief. I should add that for BB users the transfer of data from older BBs to the Z10 is seamless.

I think iphones are good phones, but I've always been an android, non iphone person. Not that I can't switch, but prefer not to at the moment.

Is it a galaxy S2? I find the camera pretty darn good on it actually.
What is the megapixals on the sony xperia?

The Galaxy S2 has 8mpx and a front camera as well of 2mpx.
