    GPS on an Android Tablet

I don't really want to buy a stand alone GPS unit for my car , so I though about using my Android tablet instead, after doing an internet search , it seems that there are many GPS options for Android , but not many for Thailand . Can any one recommend a decent GPS set up that can guide me around when I'm out in the sticks , paying for a good one is not a problem .

I just use google maps. No navigation for Thailand, but you can plot your route and follow the blue arrow.

I'd also be interested to know of a decent, well priced GPS app for Thailand, but google maps has served my fine the past few years apart from a few hairy moments where what looked like major roads on google maps turned out to be dirt mountain tracks.

the problem with google maps is you require an internet connection - you can store a small amount of map tiles

have a look at these 2 threads discussing offline gps apps for android

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

True that, though if the map is downloaded, the GPS works following the map, so short busts of being offline, even a few hours, aren't a problem. I find the 2G/3G coverage in Thailand pretty good even in remote places like Nan and Leoi,
