    Smart Watches

the latest fad emerging in the electronics sector seems to be the smartwatch

for me , except for the emopulse , I cannot see the need - I do not wear a watch now

    Emopulse

    the pebble

    maybe the iWatch from apple

    Sony smartwatch

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

a watch is jewelry, like an iPhone, so it makes sense they would merge

The Emopulse actually looks quite interesting. Be interesting to see when (if) it actually gets launched.

^ except I do not think you need the processing power in the glasses

they should just be a remote for your computer ( phone ) which will have the battery power for the comms link to the outside world

But isn't that all that the watches are?

Essentially, Google Glass is a camera, display, touchpad, battery and microphone built into spectacle frames so that you can perch a display in your field of vision, film, take pictures, search and translate on the go.

    But it looks totally impractical.
May as well just strap an iPhone to your arm.
Watches just can't carry enough screen real estate.
Glasses tethered to phones will be the way.

if you are looking for a smart watch, look no further.

SMITHS W10 BRITISH ARMY ISSUE WRISTWATCH FROM 1970 IN GOOD CONDITION FULLY SERVICED | smithswatches

the silly toys pictured on this thread will mark out the wearer as nothing more than a laughing stock, an oaf, a girlie-man and a silly naif susceptible to marketing bullshit and first adopter stupidity.

the watch in my link on the other hand, will mark out the wearer as a man of class, impeccable taste and irresistible charm.

    beautiful, understated and functional,

what about batteries to power these wrist computers, a matching man bag will be needed to carry it,
or if its soler powered, walk arround with an arm in the air, limp wristed,
life is what happens to us while we are making other plans

Would be way too small for me. I don't even have a smart phone. Use my tablet for all tablety stuff and a common old 1000b mobile for waking me up and calling people.

the same sort of people who would have dismissed the personal computer as a silly toy for little boys to play computer games on

the same sort of people who would have dismissed the personal computer as a silly toy for little boys to play computer games on

which is what probably 90% of pc do 90% of the time.

there is nobody in the world who actually needs to have such a thing strapped to their wrist, or even need a smartphone in their pocket, they are overkill, daft, and mostly pointless.

taking over our lives and making neurotic obsessives out of once normal folk.

of course people will find silly needs for them, where no need existed before, just as facebook, twitter and other garbage apps were developed to give smartphones some justification and give the people who rely on them some purpose in their ever increasingly superficial existences.

look around you and what do you see, thousands of people with their faces buried into these things, to the exclusion of all else. families sitting for meals, each one absorbed in their own little worlds of inane piffle. conversations, forget it.

other than make calls and dismiss the need for people to actually use their own memories to retain information, what advantages do smartphones have over normal mobiles.
they may be technologically wonderful, but ultimately they are a waste of resources.

    we just dont need them.

ultimately, they will serve no practical purpose other than to continue the relentless dumbing down of humanity.

but their development seems unstoppable, so its adapt or die.

without the personal computer the internet would not exist as it is today

and yes 90% of what is on it is dross

the same as 90 % of the humanoids

Where could one buy such a watch, if one was to want one?

Looking at the capabilities of some of these, it won't be long before the stewardesses will be reminding everyone to turn their watches off during take off and landing.

10 Smart Watch Alternatives to Apple's iWatch Vaporware

In fairness, if I wanted to talk to my wrist I would have joined the Secret Service.
