Can anyone talk me out of buying a Nokia?

    Evening gents.

Have a HTC Legend at the moment, but it is giving up the ghost and need to get a new phone within the next day or 2.
Looked at the HTC Desire X, HTC 8s and the Nokia Lumia 620.

Been on Android for a couple of years now and am thinking of taking the jump to Windows!
Not too much into the ins and outs of the cats arse (specs). All I want is to make calls, surf the net and listen to music. I have an android tab and use that mostly for games and stuff so the phone will probally only be used for basic usage if that means anything?
Out of these 3 above, what should I go for?
If you have any other suggestions for a sub 10k blower, then please chip-in.

    Thanks for your input.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

I had been a Nokia user for 7 years just changed to Samsung didn't realise how far telephones have progressed until then.Old phone Nokia 5800 bit fiddly compared to my new phone old Nokia okay as a phone good camera and Nokia maps was pretty good.
But with such a small screen sending messages browsing the web was difficult.
The Samsung seems light years ahead only a few years really nice gorilla glass bigger screen makes it good for browsing Google maps and street view work very well i like being able to sync with my Google account so i can add maps on line and other information like bookmarks email and it automatically syncs with my phone.
Life has become a lot easier since i changed my phone, only thing i don't like about the Samsung is the camera,i quite often take my Nokia phone with me just for the camera.

Sony Experia Z or Samsung Galaxy III is the phone to get. If you are crazy about music get the Sony with its Walkman built in. If not, get the Samsung. Both are excellent.

Theres a Sony zl that is the same spec as the z but doesnt have the stupid water and dustproof gimmick, its a tad smaller in length due to that and about 3k baht cheaper, at around 19k baht.

The S3 is around that price now, but the s4 comes out next month.

As for your budget Bogon, around 10k, you should get a lot of phone for that nowadays.

I would stick with Android rather than Windows Phone and look at the mid range sony's

I have the Nokia 610 - it's really, really easy to use, but isn't comparable with the Samsungs in terms of being like a PC. It'll do everything you mentioned that you needed in an easy to understand way.

The Samsung will do 100 times as much, but if you don't want all the extra gubbins then go with the Nokia WP.

    ^ Cheers.

    Gonna go with the Nokia.
Had a look on YouTube and the Nokia Drive and Nokia Music swung it for me.
Basically you download the map of any country you are in and you get a free offline GPS with voice.
    Rather cool stuff.

Do you think it will be able to do the lightsabre app and make a screenshot?
    Just kidding...

I have both the Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Galaxy S3 and to be honest I reckon the Nokia (windows 8) is pretty clunky to use, the Samsung on the other hand is brilliant and easy to use.

If your budget is 10k and under have a look at the Samsung Galaxy duo, this is what I purchased for my missus (at the same time I purchased the Nokia) and after playing around with it is the reason I chose to buy the Galaxy S3.

Dont buy a nokia! There that should do it.

I bought the galaxy s3 it's the first real top o' the line smartphone that I have owned and I have to say it is quite the piece of electronics. Was 10x more than I have ever forked out for a stupid phone though.

I love the older nokia phones just for there simplicity and durability have not tried any of the newer expensive nokia's though.

Would definately stick with android over windows on a phone IMO.
I'm not saying it was Aliens, but it was Aliens!

    --UPDATE--

Well, I finally plumped for the Nokia Lumia 620, which runs on Windows Mobile 8.
Got the gay blue colour, but it also has a spare black shell, so I ungayed it as soon as I got home.

Took the advice onboard, but plumped for this metrosexual looking baby mainly due to the built in Nokia Drive+, which is a GPS that needs no data connection. Just tap in where you wanna go, press DRIVE and voila, some blokes voice starts directing you with a 3D map and all the other info you would expect from a GPS device.

I also do loads of MS Office stuff, which is intergrated in the phone. I have an app for my android for MS Office, but it isn't really up to scratch with the real thing.

Easy enough to navigate around the phone and add/take away stuff from the front screen.

I looked at the phones you guys advised above, but as I have an android tablet already, I was happy to take a chance on spending the 8,250 baht on this device and if I change my mind in a couple of weeks, the missus said she will take it off my hands and get me something else.

I assume your missus is fluent in a language other than Thai (which WP doesn't support)?

    ^ What Fondles said.

Sarted the thing up and it was all in Thai. Few flicks of the fingers by the pretty girl behind the counter and English is now on.
Even the navigation was in Thai. I had to download an English voice from their app store.

I've had my Nokia for 4 years and it still looks and operates like new.
I'd like to upgrade but the thing is still as good as new, I can't justify it.

For a limited time, then it stops and Nokia maps asks for something like $79 a year.
