    New Cat Cdma Modem

I went to CAT CDMA shop in Buriram, to get onto their new wireless system which started 1-1-2013. They send me to a shop called Buriram Computer, to purchase a new modem because they do not sell their own equipment themselves. At Buriram Computer shop they had 3 different modems for sale, all in the 3000 to 4,500 Bath range. I purchased a Modem called ZTE MF60 for 4,500 Bath. It seemed to be the best of the 3. I also needed a small cable which hooks up from the modem to the cable which comes off my directional antenna. This small cable, 30 centimeters in length, they wanted 1,200 Baht for. I couldn't believe this rip off price. They finally came down to 1,000 Bath, for something that should cost about 100 Baht. CAT also has a 4 GB download limit, after which they slow your speed way down to something like 380Kbts. the modem was easy to set up, and I'm getting around 2Mbts which is over twice what we where getting before. Unfortunately there is no alternative out here in the sticks. I'm glad it works better but I'm pissed off about paying 1,000 Bath for this tiny cable.

^ Technically speaking the "CDMA" network is being shut down.

I think what you have bought is a simcard which connects to cats 850mhz 3g network. which is also sold on by trumove as "H".

"pigtail" - you want good quality so you minimise your losses as they will waste the power you use to transmit , but more importantly will lessen the strength of signal that you supply to the radio.
