Time to buy a new TV

Not sure if this is the right place to post this

My old Samsung 29 inch CRT television is on the blink, so its time to buy a new TV .

I saw this in Tesco Lotus for 15,990 Baht

Its been some years since I splashed out on a new TV , so I'm floundering in a sea of choices , like Plasma , LCD , LED , OLED , IPS , refresh rate, resolution Etc .

Don't want any thing too fancy , just a sharp clear picture and the ability to play downloaded material from my WD media player .

Any advice on buying a new TV

I have a big LG plasma and I'm happy with it. It's a couple of years old now so I will prob replace it next year and I'll start by looking for another LG. The only TV I haven't been happy with was a smaller Samsung LCD TV for the bedroom.

Go with that one Jimmy LED is the way to go ,, me bro's got one .

Plasma tv's are good in the UK to warm your house up ,, not so good in Thai .

LED is light power use to and very easy on the eye.

That price is a bargain go snap it up

My electronics nut hubby insisted I buy an LED TV. It was more expensive than LCD or plasma but worth the money. The picture is sharper.

a LED television is an LCD television - the LED is just referring to the method of backlighting the screen as the original LCDs had flourescents to do the job.

a 42 inch LED LCD with 1080p for 16k seems like a very good deal - I wonder what the catch is

maybe because it is only 1 HDMI in - but that is not such a big deal for most.

I'm the complete opposite. I've only had bad experiences with LG and swear by my Samsung stuff

I bought two 32" Samsung LCD TV's in the past couple of years, good kit.
The series 5 has the better features. Be sure to get one with the USB port feature which rocks for watching downloaded movies.

I used one before I got a new Samsung a few weeks back. Has USB in as the one in your OP, so simply put movies on thumb drive and play direct on TV. TV has audio out so can be connected to a proper sound system.

One less piece of kit now.

Mine is Panasonic Viera, 42 inch, LED, and is absolutely perfect. Cost just over £ 700 eighteen months ago, currently about £ 500 in UK. Cheaper to run than plasma so don't rush to switch it off.
Be sure to read the manual fully. Some default settings are not the best for the TV. In my case I was really disappointed with the tinny quality of sound, and a time lag in movement in some films. I read the instructions, changed two settings and ended up with superb machine. I had read reviews warning against purchasing this machine because of the "faults" mentioned but bought on the strength of the brand name and I was right to do so.
Why can't I make new posts?
