    Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Okay, I'm popping to the shop to buy the missus a phone,I was gonna get her the S2, but am now considering the Nexus because it has a bigger screen, ICS out of the box and great screen and camera (front and back) quality; these are the features teh missus wants. It also comes in white, I think...

Anybody got one? What do ya reckon?

I'll be buying about tenish, so any advice within the next hour or so would be great. Thanks...

If you want a good camera go for the S2 otherwise the Nexus should be better option.

(Hope the reply is not too late!).

I liked the Nexus, but only comes in grey. So, I got her a white S2 at 16,900 baht. It came with a a 16GB microSD and they updated it to ICS in the shop, so it's ready to roll.

And with the money you saved not buying her the SIII (you tight bastard), you can still afford to take me and Smug on the piss.

Seriously, once she realises White is a stupid fucking colour and gets filthy in no time at all, plus the battery runs out because she spends all day bashing the fucking thing, you may want to get her one of these:

The molded two-piece case fits the Galaxy SII like a glove and adds a mere 65g to the weight of the phone, but still packs a powerful 1600 mAh of extra battery power. Extend your talk time by up to 10 hours, internet time by 12 hours, movie time by 14 hours, music time by 48 hours and a whopping 600 hours extra time on standby.

It would be number 1 choice of new phone for value for me. I am not interested in the all the human interaction gimicks on the S3 and also the S3 looks like a woman's phone (Although if your GF is a woman than this would be a + )

Nexus screen looks great. Try and get one that has already been upgraded to JellyBean.

Only drawbacks with Nexus I have read is

    1. No SD card slot
    2. Screen brightness is less than S2

You can get them for various phones, I have one for the Note and the SII.

I would imagine they will be all over Panthip or Fortune City in the Phone shops.

    I got one! It's called a Powerbank.
But it's 75 grams not 65. Also it makes your phone bulky like an iphone.
Still I suppose the trade off is that you stay connected for longer.

Loads of shops at Central Rama 2; the second floor is just like Pantip Plaza - phones are big business in Thailand... Should keep her quiet for a few weeks trying to use it, but at the price I could of got her an ASUS transformer and a nice little phone...

Happy enough with it though. It's as good as an iPhone 4s and 5k cheaper...

FP, you an iPhone 4s man? I don't think there's much between the s2 and iPhone, just personal preference and usage type.

I believe the SII is without question miles better than the 4S. I happen to own both.

^There you go. I've got no idea as have only used iphones. I've seen a few people using the SII and they like it but they have been pc guys and like to play with the back end stuff. (ooh er misses).

I bought one in panthip , ground floor , east side - some shop called miss mobile I think - 800 baht

only problem is the blue leds on the bottom to indicate the charge - they flash as it charges and discharges which is annoying - I need to cover them with some black tape.

I have to say, I have been impressed by the samsung pocket. Its android 2.3, got a small low res screen, seems to do everything you would want a phone to do and costs les than 4000B

I don't buy phones because they're pretty. To be honest, I've had this on the SII so long (with a screen protector), you don't really notice, it's still small. The battery cover protects it as well.

Once you get used to not having to look at your battery any more (I'm always on the net or checking emails, so it's a must for me), you almost won't know it's there.

And if or when you ever have to take the cover off again, you'll notice just how bloody tiny the actually SII is, it really is a technological marvel.

There is a complete replacement 5400Mwh battery for the Galaxy Note, it actually comes with a replacement phone back cover, which makes it look sort of pregnant. I've been breaking that battery in for the last couple of days and fuck me does it need some work to drain out.

I had to download a Battery Drainer app in the end, turns on everything including Vibrate, and the bloody thing still takes ages to drop!

Samsungs seem to be the trendy thing now, but I've seen iPhones, HTCs, Sonys and LGs which are all pretty good, imho.

Samsung knocks the bollocks off the competition at the moment, until Apple come out with a similar product to the SIII and the sheep go a buyin' just because they "believe".

^I would go with that. I am tempted to get a samsung pocket for myself. one thing that samsung do seem to be guilty of is making far to many models which seem to be more or less identical I.E the samsung pocket vs samsung galaxy y
