the problem will be the SSD driver for your laptop and WinXP, it won't boot

then it should downgrade to WinXP as this machine seems quite high in terms of specs so will be screamingly fast

VISTA might be the issue, not the SSD drive

Yes, I run Vista. But want to put 7 in it, but might be hard to find all drivers.

I have the same acer lappy, I had an 80gb intel SSD in it for a while and to be honest it was a waste of money so I pulled it and stuck it in my Samsung netbook.
I had a greater performance increase with jamming some more ram in it (4GB)

    Im running win7 64bit ultimate.

Fondles is right. Windows loves RAM.

Dump Vista and try Win 7. And up your RAM to at least 2Gb.

But our resident IT expert from France told me that RAM doesn't improve performance!

    ^ it doesn't,

it's all you do is email, and watch porn, 512MB of RAM is more than enough

small cock syndrome force certain users to "upsize" to 2GB to feel good when wanking on online porn

Some of us actually use computers for things other than online porn (got any links to decent sites) hence my main PC has 24gb of ram installed.

as for 512mb being adequate.... you had best not upgrade to win7 as 1gb is the recommended minimum.

    Whats a PS pro ??

I do a lot of 3D CAD modeling, I like a machine that has some grunt, best part is work paid for it, gotta love being given the corporate CC to go on a shopping spree.

If you were already using a 7200 rpm drive then you might not notice a difference, if you upgrade from 5400rpm or less then for sure you will notice the difference and be pleased with the improvment. faster hard drives speed up notebooks, more ram has always been a disapointment for me.

Yeah I was using a seagate 7200rpm drive, putting the SSD into my netbook resulted in an amazing increase in performance though.

Last time I looked at SSD the read speeds were great but the write speeds were average.

Mine has a reported write speed of 100mb/s, no idea idea if it actually does this though.

OCZ sell PCIe SSD's that will write at 1.4gb/s if you really need something speedy.

of course it was, as 99% of the RAM is used for the pretty Win7 Interface, tool, doesn't mean it will be faster to surf your porn or TD or read your email

tell me again why you can't do with WinXP, you can do on Win7

    poseur,

I run Win 7 on a netbook with no Swapfille and it's just fine. I'd have to run Office and SAP to slow the fucker down.

I put a 64Gb Runcore in it, and it's fine. About the only writing I do is from the Internet, and frankly even at the best download speeds, you aren't going to hit a bottleneck with an SSD.

And Windows 7 is far more efficient and stable than XP. Butters took years to learn XP, which is why he's so resistant to moving.

XP has best the interface ever, efficient and elegant. Have you seen Win7 interface ? it's like a mac, inefficient and pretty (and gay of course)

knowing that you proved to us before you knew fuck all about Win7 interface, I assume you will not be telling the truth since you keep using that Search function for everything you do on Win7

so basically 64GB RAM for Office, porn, and emails ? are you completely retarded ? you should buy a mac instead and stop the non-sense
