iPod Touch gen4, & the missus...

The missus' Dell laptop has packed up, so I said I'd get her a new m/c at the weekend; I want to check out the ASUS TF101 for me too...

She just called me saying "I don't want a new laptop. I just bought an iPod Touch 4 with 16Gb." She's gonna get a cheapish desktop for home, and she reckons her needs are thus covered - she only pisses around chatting, watching movies, playing music, going to Buddhist sites, some translation, etc.

Good idea or bad? What does a bloody iPod touch do? (I hate Apple so have no knowledge of their overpriced overbranded products...).

Who has an iPod touc? Any good?

Basically it's an iPhone 4 without the call capability. Slimmer too. It. Has wifi and you can get all the apps same as iPhone, it's on the latest IOS 5.1, has the retina display and has 2 cameras you can video call her on i. Did she get the white one ?

She got one of the internet, 5 months old, went to the apple shop and checked it out, put the guarentee in her name, so only paid 6k. Apparently, everyone is selling Apple stuff to upgrade to the latest iPhone 4s.

Having played with it a bit, and thought about it - compared to an iPhone which is 15,000 baht more expensive, if you linked to skype for calls using your wifi at home and work (as well as True hotspots when you're out and about) then you get the same functionality for much of the time. Not of use driving around, etc, but...

You can tether the internet off your phone to get around that

Your phone acts as a hotspot. You just need to put some free software on your phone. Any Android phone can do it, My old Nokia 5800 on symbian used to do it for my netbook.

Get a 7 inch, not a 10 inch, there more portable, you can get one in your combat shorts pockets and slowly sneak off for a good old tug, erm.. if thats your thing.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is a great piece of kit, bit pricey though, the iPad 2 is cheaper than it now

The missus has done her research; findings:

The latest similar specc'd m/c is 15,900.
The shop I bought it from would give me 8k trade-in.
M/cs such as mine are being sold for 12k-12.5k at Panthip.

Imo, a direct sale should be 10k (A Thai would say 11.5k...).
