    The Demise of Downunder

The Downunder Pub is no more - or least for now.

I first came across this little bar when it was the Bunny Club, and it's gone through several iterations before settling on its current theme, a Sports bar primarily dedicated to Aussie sport.

It seems there was a deal to sell it which went awry. After a lot of legal wranging and attempted negotiations, which got them nowhere, the incumbent appears to have kept the property and the new lad, presumably out of pocket, now has to go and find somewhere else, which may be hard to do on tick when he's unfortunately now got a reputation for not having capital.

I suppose Aussie sports fans will have to find a new venue for their NRL/AFL/whatever.

It's a shame, it used to be a friendly little bar with a loyal following.
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

Ah yes, a convict bar full of AFL fans is way beneath the effete sensibilities of yourself, I'm sure.

Well you were the one who said you liked it. A cheap bar at a shitty location, full of ugly whores wanting to play pool with you.

I can understand why YOU liked it, but you’re right - not for me.

Agreed, in a fit of generosity, I will leave them all to Harry.

I never mentioned anything about "ugly whores wanting to play pool with you".

So a bar you must have frequented then?

It wasn't really a long shot, considering the name.

If memory serves, it was the Thirsty Beaver. A Canadian who did the obligatory marrying-the-bargirl-buying-a-bar-getting-stitched-up routine.

Disappeared and never heard of again.

That's what you got from the word "Downunder"?
