Hillbilly's resort through a REBEL (dSLR)

Early last week I cashed in my prize from the last TD photo contest. 3 days/2 nights at HB's Resort in the Phitsanulok area, & to say the least my gf & I had a wonderful time!

I would like to thank HB, his wife & his extended family who works at the resort.

HB is a bit of a celebrity in town, people would ask where I was from, I'd say America, & they would say the same as HB. He was knows to all.

While we were unpacking Monday night, I noticed the smile in the sky & took this photo:


so the vacation was off to a good start.

The whole time the weather was perfect! Really making for some beautiful pictures of the resort!










the 2nd day I fell asleep on this thing for an hour!


the Nan River just outside of the resort was simply gorgeous!


We did a lot of exploring outside of the resort, which made the holiday even more enjoyable! Not only were the locals a delight, but the scenery was beautiful. Here are some photos (in no particular order).





















Near the resort was a nice temple. This monk seems like a really good man, he spoke highly of HB.




On the way to the bus station we went to the famous Wat Yai for a visit:












I'll say it again, my gf & I had a GREAT time. If anyone is in the Phitsanulok area, visit the D&G Resort, it's gorgeous & so is the surrounding area!

What does your wife think when you are constantly stopping and taking photos?

Nawty : Bobcock & I are different types of shooters, going after different game, so I don't even think these shots even phase him.

I should mention that most of these pictures were shot at a f/2.8, making for the nice background blur. The danger of that is the depth of field/focus is reduced, making it easier to have a shot totally out of focus.

The payoff is worth the shots I've missed.

gf, not wife!

she's use to it. Either she continues walking, or if it's a shot I want to get & the subject is giving me the eye, she pretends she's talking to me while I snap away. So she's assisted in a few of them.

I've now got the lens to replicate what bustak does, before I didn't, and yes, I do like his pics very much.

Today i hope to purchase the new Canon 5D Mk II, it's advertised, but not sure it has actually arrived, they told me new year, but it is on Fotofiles website with a price.

I expect to be disappointed, but let's hope eh? That'll be full frame as well, which means my wide angle lenses will now come into their own.

I love the sharpness and overexposed background of this one, usually I hate oversexposure of any kind and do everything to overcome it, but this time it works great.

wonderful stuff bustak...these two are worth repeating...excellent colours in the first and a great moment in the second...I've said before that you have a great eye for things...I mean I see these kind of scenes every day but never consider them pic-worthy...
