    Cambodia introduces new "E-Arrival App"

So the idea is instead of them giving out arrival cards, and health and customs declaration forms, on the plane or at the arrivals hall, you can now do it through an app up to 7 days before you fly.

Since I'm going next week, I'll let you know how it goes.

So it says you can do it 7 days before arrival, but on the 2nd it wouldn't let me pick the 9th as the arrival date, so I waited until today.

The app's pretty easy, you scan your passport bar code, then take a picture of the info page. Fill in all the usual crap about flight number, hotel address, etc.

Takes about five minutes. Then gives you a QR code you're supposed to show them on arrival; I saved it as a screen shot and we'll see what happens when I land.

I'd rather do that than fuck around trying to fill in a couple of form withs miniscule boxes that you can only complete in microdot, on paper thin enough to remind you of that tracing paper bog roll they used to have when you were young.

Never done it, but I assume you have to fill out these "arrival" cards there as well, so probably yes.

I didn't check, but it has a pull down list of arrival points and I just picked PNH because it was at the top.

Well I showed the bloke the QR code on arrival and he didn't have a clue. So he asked his boss and his boss just told him to ignore it, so he did.

On the way out, the bloke waved a health declaration form at me, so I waved my phone back and he just shrugged.

Not sure they're geared up for it yet, but if you do it they just let you through.

Singapore has a similar thing. The problem I encountered was 4 of us and I was tasked with all of it. A Singaporean freind did warn me about it and I downloaded the app
.but it was still a headfuk

Ha ha one of my fondest memories was flying into Phnom.penh in 97 and lining up for a visa on arrival as I was in the line the French bloke behind me was worried that he didn't have a passport picture. I gave him a spare one of mine and saw him later downtown bought me a beer. You know your in a humorous country when blds photo gets ya through immigration
He promised to headbutt me, if he ever saw me. Charming.

I guess that my solution would be that he 'never saw me'.
