Tourism Min compiles the first NI report to be used in tourism development

BANGKOK, 28 August 2010 (NNT) – The first National Income (NI) report in tourism has been compiled by the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.

Previously, the NI report had presented figures in 16 industries not related to the tourism sector. The Ministry has thus arranged a specific NI report for the tourism sector. This primary information will be used to create tourism development plan.

According to the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, the revenue gained from tourism industry in 2009 amounted to 715.99 billion THB or 7.9% of GDP in that year. Bangkok earned the most at 331.45 billion THB, followed by the Southern region at 182.21 billion THB,

During the first seven months of 2010, the number of tourists entering the country is greater than the same period of the previous year, most of them from ASEAN countries.
