The 27th st. Petersburg international economic forum

THE 27TH ST. PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM

"One of the biggest and most important business events in the world. Over the past 26 years, the Forum has cemented its status as a leading international event focusing on key issues on the global economic agenda. It provides a platform for participants to exchange best practices and expertise in the interests of sustainable development.

SPIEF has been held annually since 1997. Since 2005, it has been held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, who has also attended each event.

In 2021, SPIEF was the first business event of such magnitude to be held offline since the unavoidable break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

SPIEF offers an unrivalled space for dialogue and forging business ties. It provides an opportunity to find partners with the aim of securing business growth in Russia and abroad. Participants are also afforded the ability to expand their circle of customers and suppliers, and to meet key decision makers. There are also ample opportunities to attract the attention of potential investors and leading media outlets.

More than 17,000 participants from 130 countries took part in the SPIEF 2023 events in both offline and online formats. More than 900 agreements worth a total of RUB 3.860 billion were signed at the Forum (including 43 agreements with representatives of foreign companies, among them two with Italy and Spain. This figure only includes the agreements whose value is not a commercial secret.

Scott Ritter to take part in RT panel at SPIEF 2024
Former UN weapons inspector and US Marine will participate online after being blocked from traveling to Russia

    "
Former US Marine and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter will take part in a discussion panel hosted by RT at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Friday. He will join the event online after being barred by US authorities from traveling to Russia.

The RT session will be held under the title ‘The Empire of Evil: Has The West Successfully Demonized Russia?’ and will feature several guests, including former aide to US President Joe Biden Tara Reade, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Karin Kneissl and great nephew of Otto von Bismarck, Alexander von Bismarck.

The panel will be moderated by RT host and correspondent Oksana Boyko. A live broadcast of the discussion will be available via RuTube, VK and OK.

Ritter was supposed to take part in the discussions in person. However, on Monday, upon attempting to board a Turkish Airlines flight to travel to St Petersburg, he was prevented from doing so by US border-security officers, who confiscated his passport and offloaded his luggage.

According to Ritter, when he asked the officers why they’d taken his passport, they stated that they were following the “orders of the US State Department.” The political analyst and commenter has suggested that the move was a “deliberate ambush” orchestrated by the US government out of spite, and meant to “stick it to the Russians.”

“The disappointment I felt when my government denied me the opportunity to appear in person in Saint Petersburg was great. However, through the miracle of modern technology, my voice will not be silenced by those who disagree with the messages it carries,” Ritter said.

Meanwhile, Moscow has reacted to the incident by suggesting that Washington has once again demonstrated that it has “long become a police state” by denying its citizens rights to establish any kind of contacts with Russia."

    One report:

"The United States has no prohibitions on sex offenders traveling abroad.

On the other end, while Russia can request visa applicants to undergo a background check in case of criminal record.

It would be strange for a denied visa to be dealt with at the gate for a departing plane. Further, Ritter’s conviction has not stopped him from visiting Russia in the past, including earlier this year when he visited the Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov."

Scott Ritter Claims State Department Seized His Passport - The American Conservative

Allegedly Ritter, due to his past, has to obtain his passport renewal from a certain US department. He applied to renewed his passport as in the past. Prior to visiting Russia this time it was renewed again and he received it back from the US department.

The story now is that there was a stamp/tick missing from his newly issued and delivered, by the certain US department, passport.

From that article you posted in The American Conservative you cherry picked that one line from. (BTW Ritter writes for this magazine.)

As Napolitano and Ritter discussed during their interview, Napolitano had been dissuaded by Ritter from going to the airport the morning of the alleged incident, as both were initially scheduled to attend the SPIEF. Ritter became worried after their sponsor at the conference, Alexander Zyryanov, was briefly detained by Russian authorities. This detail suggests that Ritter himself may have decided not to attend the conference and made up the story of his passport being taken post hoc. When queried about the matter by The American Conservative, the State Department declined to comment, responding “We cannot comment on the status of the passport of a private U.S. citizen.”

Malaysia moving to join BRICS – PM

Kuala Lumpur has made its decision, Anwar Ibrahim has said

"Malaysia has decided to apply for BRICS membership and will start filing the official paperwork soon, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said.

The 77-year-old leader of the Southeast Asian nation mentioned the decision in an interview with the Chinese outlet Guancha published on Sunday.

“We have made our policy clear and we have made our decision. We will start the formal process soon,” Anwar said. “We are waiting for the final result and the feedback from the South African government.”

Anwar also mentioned bringing up the subject in a recent meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The organization was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, with South Africa joining in 2011. In January, BRICS officially admitted Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but decided to keep the current name.

Kuala Lumpur’s potential membership in the organization would be of strategic significance, as one of the world’s most important shipping lanes – the Malacca Strait, connecting the Pacific and the Indian Ocean – is located between Malaysia and the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

According to Anwar, Malaysia is “relieved” that the world is no longer unipolar, and that the rise of BRICS and China in particular has offered “a glimmer of hope that there are checks and balances in the world.”

The West wants to “control the discourse” in the world, but “we can no longer accept it because they are no longer a colonial power and independent countries should be free to express themselves,” the Malaysian prime minister told Guancha.

Earlier this month, Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov said that about 30 countries have voiced a desire to join BRICS. In Malaysia’s neighborhood, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam have already made overtures to the group.

The 2024 BRICS summit is scheduled for October in Kazan, Russia. Moscow has presided over the organization since January."

Really should be disturbing to the Anglophone and particular allied circles are the very large number of pending and possible members. Quite substantial countries and their respective economies.
The accord to real change is already happening, yet they all still remain oblivious to it.
Gonna come up and bite them in the arse.....even after they realize there's not much arse left.

    The changing world order.
