Never said I had one, but feel free to keep pushing the lie that keeps on giving. As an aside, Teslas are fucking selling for next to nothing here in Seattle. It is only you TD losers who think they are status symbols.

What a couple of triggered little bitches.

Appears you were right Snubs on triggering old Edtard. Didn't take him long.

Back to stocks. I am going to buy some Rivian stock this week. Been mulling it over for awhile. At $10 bucks a share or so 1000 shares is a small cash outlay for a long term investment. I don't believe they will go on a trajectory like Tesla did, but could be a nice $40-$60 dollar stock in the future. I have a few friends working there. I like their truck concept and design.

As for Tesla, they are played out like the Apple products. They have a cult following but their car designs are extremely ugly and the S car is old. Tesla stock is extremely over valued IMHO. The Chinese Love Tesla. To them it is definitely a status symbol where as in America nobody pays any attention to them. They are as common as a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.

Big risk considering the company is hemorrhaging billions of dollars in losses a year.

I agree with you, Teslas are a dime a dozen here, shit high school kids drive them. They are a terrible purchase as they depreciate like a brick in the ocean, literally anyone here could buy a used one cheap as chips, but frankly for many myself included they are unwanted.

These bozos on here think they are like fucking Rolls Royce's.

Yeah. I have been watching them for awhile. Worst case they get bought out by some other car company and the securities would transfer. I think in the big picture, they will survive. I remember Tesla severly bleeding cash and they did same. I mean lets say it stagnates and drops to $8. I'd lose a few bucks on the gamble. I've lost more on weekend binges in Vegas.

I do too, Amazon does own like 20% of them, and they are supposed to be partnering to put out 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030. So there is that. Lots of those Rivian's on the streets of Seattle.

Yeah. I saw some last vist to Calif. A friend just bought one. Loves it. Tons of power, great battery life and works good for picking up supplies to work around his house. He said he is going to do a camping trip in it with his son fishing. Good thing the accessories market is recognizing Rivian as you can buy aftermarket things. That's always a good sign. It works for people like me who can't live with out a truck.

I'd jump on a EV Hilux.

I used to have a stake in a China EVs fund which did rise for a while but then stalled. Glad I ditched it.

Exactly. Which is why I will buy. This isn't a short term buy for me. I will let it ride and pass it on to my daughters. If it pans up, all good. Not sweating it.

I've dabbled in the past on speculative mostly mining stocks as it's something I know but wasn't hugely successful at it . Made chump change at best certainly not enough to get me a hasip hasip Thai chinky Mrs or put me in the Ultra high net income category sadly. I still hold some blue chips that return a fully franked dividend and will hang on to them unless something drastic happens. The speculative stocks are just that. Speculative
The last ones I bought were a cashed up aussie miner operating in myanmar who were close to reopening an abandoned mine and had done plenty of exploration with good results. It's now a basket case
. What the fuck was I thinking..

Started a fair few years back.....kinda regret not doing so much earlier now.

Began with the index funds and then took profits to buy individual shares.

Got a nice mix of tech/dividend/mining stocks going.

I was allocated staff shares in an Aussie Building Society that became a bank and went public in 1990.
At the time I only had to put up 10c in the dollar and was not required to pay any more unless I resigned.
So when I resigned in 1996, I just sold enough of the shares to pay out the remaining 90c owed on the rest.
I have just hung onto the rest through the years and rode the ups and downs, collecting dividends twice per year.

So basically, I was gifted 8,656 shares which traded today at 16.09
So total value of my "gift" is now $139,275.04 , but in all those years I also have full franked dividends totaling $128,546.21

In hindsight, of course I should have not sold those others when I left.

I then started seriously getting into stocks about 8 years later.
Spent lots of time paper trading, before putting any real money down.

Somewhere along the way, i was introduced to The Rivkin Report.
I followed their stock advices as well as performing some of my own for a few years.
After a few years I compared their performance (minus subscription fees) to my own performance and decided I should just follow their advice and stop spending my own time doing research.

Since 2019, following Rivkin's advice, my average annual return has been 21.7%, so I'm pretty happy with that.
Of those years, the best was 46.03% return in 2020. The only year with a negative return was -13.94% in 2022.

I spend just a few minutes, a couple of times per month to perform the recommended buy/sells, hopefully I'll continued to get similar returns during my retirement.

I keep getting emails from the Motley Fool claiming I can benefit from their largesse but looking at eToro there are some splendid traders that have done exceptionally well and you can simply "copy trader".

Once the nVidia thing has reached my target, which I think it will in June if not before, I will probably cash out and do a stock split of my own: leave some in NVDA, put some in TSMC, and then use the rest to copy one of these chaps.

Or I could just leave the lot in cash in eToro as they pay 5.3% anyway which is a lot more than you can get off a fucking bank at negligible risk these days.

And it's gone up more after hours.

Now I know these hedge fund bastards are going to trim it before the stock split but how far can it fucking go?

Well nVidia has now overtaken Apple as the 2nd biggest company in the world with a value of THREE TRILLION.

    What a ride.

Debating whether to jump off the bike before Friday close or leave it and see what happens with the stock split.

Or perhaps cash in a portion.

    Any opinions?

I bought 1000 shares of Rivian at 10.18. Closed at 11.45 today. Lets see where it goes. This is how Amazon was for me when I first bought their stock years ago. All funny money until you exercise the stock for sale. But paper looks REALLY good.

You would be a fool to sell. Stock splits do not affect a stock's market cap, and NVIDIA has AI by the neck. Nothing is hotter right now than AI, ride the wave and be lucky you got in when you did. Sad that I missed this one.

Funny, years ago at another company I reported directly in to our VP who is now the current Exec VP of Operations for Nvidia. She left our company and joined Nvidia when it was an average company. I probably could have followed but its one of those Coulda, Shoulda...Woulda deals. No complaints on my side. Glad she has made it big.

Didn't see the point in being greedy. I set a target a long while back and long since passed it.

If you think it still has a great upside, what are you waiting for?

Added: There are quite a few people shorting it ahead of the split.

I would definitely have bailed anyway if I'd read that.
