3%, paying of the Mrs' car loan as I refused to pay cash outright. Call me a stingy bstr'd.

Agree with Sir Burr, my loathing for debt means I have very few assets, which isn't a good thing.

I am naturally averse to borrowing too.

I used to think this was a mark of sound personal fiscal policy but it seems the more money you borrow the richer you get.

Damn, I wish I'd studied economics.

You really can't get filthy rich without borrowing money, which I refuse to do.
Yep with very few exceptions you can only ever make it using other peoples' money.

I agree never t o buy a car for cash unless it's a really good second hand deal. The car loans here are only 2% really cheap, and I get more 6% from my bank on a term savings account.
CMN have you tried the agricultural bank? ANd the GovernmentHouseing Bank, you might like to get you wife do it on her own.
My wife did this with our current house, to prove she had an income she took photos standing behind a vegie stall at the local market - I kid you not.
Mind you she only borrowed 400,000 on a 1.5 m house, so I suppose they thought no problems.

Why the stigma of selling the old home?

I would be interested in a cheap block with or without a house to use as a holiday place and plant some more teak trees on- you don't have anything like that I suppose?

Paid cash for house, car and moto. No credit card debt.

    Estimated monthly expenses
    Electric: 2,000 - 4,000
    Water: 150-300
    UBC: 2,000
    Diesel gasoline: 3,000
    Phone cards: 600
    Food: 20,000
    Beer: 10,000

Don't plan on buying jetskis, a yacht, his & hers quad bikes or a pony. I come from the Sir Burr School of family finances -- If I can't pay cash, I don't want it. Sorry Milky, I destroy your tidy little stereotype about fiscal discipline.

No, not at all. He approached me as he has a loan he is paying off until June next year at 9.8%. My money was currently earning 6.9%. He saves 1.4% and I make an extra 1.6%.

Both saving/making money = both parties happy.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
