BANGKOK, 25th September 2017 (NNT) - Tak Governor Charoenrit Sa-nguansat has expressed his confidence that bidding in the Tak special economic zone will take place this year.

The governor said the special economic zone in Tak is now 100% ready, especially in terms of infrastructure and the construction of the second bridge expected to be completed in 2018. The location of a border crossing is being discussed.

The Treasury Department will most likely arrange bidding for investors interested in the special economic zone this year.

As for progress in terms of investment, only 10 out of 26 investors are qualified to jointly invest in the special economic zone. The Tak provincial administration said it will assist the investors who have failed to meet the investment criteria of the Board of Investment Promotion.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Niyom Wairatphanit said cargo and labor intensive industries are among the best industries to invest in. There are also Myanmar laborers who can travel into Thailand to work and return to Myanmar in one day. He also suggested a visa waiver to promote tourism.
