Could you reiterate for me please, the reason for covering the cement piling with plastic sheets?

It helps the concrete to cure better and more evenly. A common practice here in Thailand.

If you don’t wrap the pillar they are likely to dry out before the concrete has cured. The plastic is supposed to stay on for 1 to 2 weeks.
If a proper hardening agent is added the concrete will become stronger through the first 100 years and the peak will be after 150 years before it starts to deteriorate. That should be more than sufficient for me.

The girders have been given a protection layer.

Hopefully this will be ok as long as one have plenty of scaffolding and wearing flip-flops.

I´m from Sweden, and I´ve been in houseconstrution buisness for many years.
I shit my pants when I see how the concrete work is handle.
When you do the conrete you must use a vibreting machine that is stuck into the concret before it drys, while you poor the concrete into the form.
If you don´t, you will have couloms or pillars as you call them,that wont last for many years. The vibrating machine make the pillars stronger, becuse the vibrater as you maybye understand from its name, make the airbubbles in the concret disepear. And thay is very importent, if you want strong fondation.
And why using brics, when in Thailand they have samthing like Q-blocks. Q-blocks are more expensive to buy, but they are much better to insultete and and to keep the heat on the outside. Q-blocks also are fater to build whith.
Anyway your picture´s are great, I hope that you and your family will enjoy the house, that is the most important thing of all.

floating concrete dont need to be vibrated

Khun Lasse, I do know about vibrating the concrete but I doubt that this is a well used method for private houses in Thailand. On lager construction I suppose they do vibrate but in this case I think not. The best we can hope is if they have hammered the rough boards to make the concrete fill the form better. From the pics I think they do look ok.
We have a company building for us and the bricks are part of the contract. We don’t buy any of the stuff singlehanded. We try to follow up the project as best we can from Norway and my wife has day to day contact with the building team. If anything in doubt they ask us in advance.
I think our building team is doing a good job.

The budget is app. 2, 6 mill. thb and that includes only the house. We have not got a price for the walls yet.
According to the plans the house shall be finished in the beginning of December.
