Not much has happened on the building site since New Year but yesterday most of the crew was back. One can just hope that everybody survived the celebration. Bangkok Post reports that 335 people died and 3,810 were injured from 3,549 road accidents during the past six days of the 'Seven Dangerous Days of New Year' from December 30 to January 5.
Anyway, we received the water heaters today.
Window frames and window glass has been delivered and this work has first priority now.
Windows glass.
The windows frames are adjusted on site. In Norway and I guess also in UK the windows are prefabricated completely with the glass installed.
The living room is transformed to a windows factory.
That hammer makes me worry a bit. I’ll hope the floor will survive.
The skirting board in the kitchen is being installed.
The fuse box.
Today’s surprise.
I didn’t know about the urinals but now they are already installed in 2 of the bathrooms. (Flower pots Loomie?)
The windows start to look like windows.
Panting and touch up.
A door that waits patiently to get installed.
I think these cardboard boxes contain bathroom equipment.
The water tank.
Installation of the railing has started.
This is probably what is known as “cold work”, it certainly looks like that.
Admiring their work.
It looks ok.
Pantip, all looks good
But it is a bit scary to see how they work around the already finished parts of the house. That oxygen cylinder just standing on the balcony waiting to fall over and all the tools and debris and work going on on the unprotected floors.
Panthip, Expect that you are itching to get back and see this all, 'in the flesh' Won't be long now!
Curiously, I do remember, years ago, a mate got a load of salvaged urinals from a school. He had them all round the 'garden', filled with lovely blooms. Bit surpried to see yours, but they do save on water.Originally Posted by Panthip
Looking really good now, with all that stainless coming together. Just a wee bit more to go, so keep it coming.
Looking good Pantip.
I like the idea of separate multi-point water heaters, the ones you have look very neat units.
The urinal in the blue bathroom looks a bit close to the door opening, I reckon you will be getting the blame when the door starts to rot![]()
Well, I'm worried too mate but there are no way I can interfere. Cross my fingers and hope for the best. If they break anything they just have to fix it I suppose.
(But I probably have to pay for the new material and labour. I think that's the way things works in Thailand.)![]()
There has been a lot of people on the site today. Company representing aircon, water heater and the kitchen equipment all decided to start this morning. Unfortunately the electrician had run a wrong wire to the kitchen utilities. But no worries, it has already been changed. (Guess who have to pay extra for that?).
They will start installing the kitchen tomorrow.
Perhaps it’s too cold in the aircon car?
Unwrapping the aircon elements.
Do we have all the components?
Installing the water heater.
The units are already in place.
Here it will be nice and cold during the winter.
The railing on the rear balcony is nearly done.
Hopefully I want fall off the balcony now.
It's all coming together very nicely Pantip!
these water heaters look good

Your home is looking great and coming along nicely.
It’s nearly done now. What remains are some tiling and adjustments around the outdoor steps, paint touch up and some of the railing.
The sliding doors are installed.
Railing installed in the stairway.
The kitchen equipment is installed.
Cooking hob with induction element.

Panthip, Looking really great, I particularly like your 'sand washed' front steps, a lovely shape and much safer than the majority of tiles when wet!
From memory the builder placed 6 metre foundation pilings down so the house should not be a problem if the perimeter wall moves.Originally Posted by Panthip
Looks like a really nice job Panthip and quite cheap at 2.8 million Baht.
Also a couple of nice looking Loy Toy plastic buckets there mate.
I see they used TOA and Dulux paint which is good quality and quite rare for Thai builders. Normally they use the cheapest paint in the market which fades very quickly.
Congratulations on you new home!![]()
Looking all very good Panthip. I like the stair railings, but on a personal opinion don't like them on the outside of the house, looks to 'clinical' to me. I would have much preferred a stone balustrade effect. However I stress again that this is only my opinion.
I really like those front steps and the shape
Nice kitchen Panthip, kind of more like what I had in mind at my house. Glad to see that the steps turned out so well, in the end. How long do you reckon it will be before you are sitting on that back porch?
Thanks a lot Khun Loy Toy and so reassuring concerning the paint job.
Well bt2,8 was the contract since that there has been alterations. Also the kitchen equipment and aircon was not part of contract, either was the rear balcony.
When I have collected all the receipts I will set up a total cost here at TD. Probably early March.
If every thing goes according to plans I could sit on that porch next Sunday, the 25th of January.
It'll be a bit busy I reckon, running around shopping furnitures and the likes. (Skinning time I suppose)
That mentioned I also hope to spend a week in Kho Chang or Pracuap Khiri Khan. I'll also drop into IT City in Pattaya on the hunt for software, in particular PS CS4.
Panthip, light at the end of the tunnel.... Nice kitchen cabinets. If same as in my new house where the 5'4" little lady has to use a step stool to reach into the cabinets on top of the counter, U may have to invest in a step stool. Plenty of work space though. Looking good. If getting together with a. boozer in Ban Chang, I'll see you there. 1 big happy family....
