why? in our house in the city, we don't have that facility
if you wish to be scatalogical, we prefer the western style toilets at home, but the Thai trad toilets in public places, for obvious reasons
Don't know, I was horny alreadyIt's meant to make you horny. Did it work?
I have reported your post
anyway, so far so good
this is the inside of the verandah roof. All the roof will be lined under the eaves, inside the house as well. That will leave the roof trusses showing, and a very high ceiling. The architect keeps trying to make me finish the ceiling at the horizontal trusses, but I want to keep it open inside right up to the roof.
this is inside the house, the arch goes into the kitchen, the doors to the bathrooms (his and hers)
this is the latest view of the house
and this
so, we still have to line the roof, tile the bathrooms, sand down the floors, tile the downstairs area, sand the deck etc etc
lots of work, but most of the main jobs are done
that is it for now, I am back in Europe, my wife is joining me next week, so no more progress until we return
to be continued.........
I am now jealous. Can't wait to see how everything pans out.
Looks a lovely place your building keep the photos coming please enjoying this thread .
Breezer
me too Hillbilly!
and Breezer, read my post above, there will be a short intermission as we will be in Europe for a while
The house looks beautiful, congratulations so far.
Cool Thai house!!
Sorry if its been mentioned in the thread can you tell me what cost to build this house .
Thanx
Breezer
Yeah, was going to ask the same thing. Price for the basic construction will do; of course all kinds of nice fixtures can go into kitchens and bathrooms that could add greatly to the cost.
But it is *SO* lovely... It's... distinguished and modest at the same time. It's functional, classy, traditional.. It's beautiful.
Do let us know when the house warming party takes place. Worth trekking up to Mae Rim for.
OK curious chaps
I have added the costs so far, not including land etc.but including all materials and work.
The total comes to B1.6 million. This includes bathroom fittings and some of the kitchen, the lighting (not yet fitted out) and plumbing
does not include those jobs that I mentioned previously, like sanding the floors or tiling the main downstairs area. These will not be expensive anyway.
and thanks for the compliments, much appreciated.
anyone need a design team?
looks great Andy.
Surprised how much progress they have made since I was there last. (was it February?)
So that is for the picture up top and the inside area? whats happening downstairs, will you be walling that in?Originally Posted by DrAndy
The place looks very nice by the way. i like the roof as well as the tiered bit off to the side. time to clean up that water and put in a big freakin rope swing...classy!!
that is for everything so far
the downstairs area will be quarry tiled on the floor, no walls. It will be an open area for sitting and eating BBQ, nice and shady
and a wood deck, already installed, for sitting fishing and a hammock
the water looks a bit murky, bit it is clean and you can swim. The bottom is muddy so it will need a platform to get in
Thought: There must be ways to build on water without draining it, judging from all the buildings next to khlongs, streams and other waterways in Central Thailand (Thonburi canals, etc.) Of course there's no experience with that in the North, but I wonder how they do that in Central Thailand..
And no response on the house-warming! I'll bring an envelope with content for the Chang-fund.
Hah WLL, I did respond to another post about the housewarming
we will prob have it next January - hopefully all the rest of the work will have been completed by then. Maybe there will be an invite....
as for building on/in the pond without draining it, why worry? It is fairly normal in Thailand to drain ponds and extract all the fish and beasties once a year anyway. I think that I will not continue doing that annually as it takes a while for the wildlife to recover. The fish are back and spawning, the birds are around again etc, but it took some time
^ can we have a couple roasted calves like the last house warming Party we went to? and lotsa scantily-clad dancers? Or is it gonna be some veddy brittish wine, cheese & crackers (biscuits) affair?
Oh yes please! That sounds absolutely fabulous!Originally Posted by friscofrankie
