Several nice "dishes"; compliments

First stop is a cool one at Melbourne Central, then a leisurely stroll down to the Great Southern hotel.
I really enjoyed Melbourne, but jesus, I was freezing to death! I thought December was warm down under?
I decided to stay over Christmas in Melbourne, so I booked a 12 day stay at an AirBNB in Footscray (SP?) I ride the light rail there, find the place but no key in the key safe, as was arranged. The host is out of town, so I go back to the Great Southern for another night, then get a good deal on another AirBNB room on La Trobe St.
The Footscray host cheerfully refunded my money and AirBNB gave me a $100 credit for the inconvenience. It seems the cleaner had decided to put the key in a pot in the garden shed, instead of back in the key safe, LOL. Like how was I supposed to know that? LOL!

Yes I was giving you full marks for spelling!
Queanbeyan
...Queenbeen
I walked all over Melbourne, at least the down town area. Went to the Immigration museum and watched some of the visa/citizenship interviews. Usually started my day at the Dunkin Donut coffee shop near the Great Southern hotel. I even joined the loyalty program and got two free coffees. The second coffee was a substitution for declining the free donut. Easy going Aussies, no rules just right. Hell yes!
Melbourne's China Town
Australia has experienced a huge inflow of immigrants; according to the 2011 census one in four Aussies is foreign born. Most assimilate and are proud to be Aussie but then there are... Have several wives and collect welfare for all of them. SMH...
Nick Stevens is already out of jail? That was quick.
Guess where I'm going to next?
Hmm let me see...
Woop Woop, Western Australia?
Yorkeys Knob, Queensland?
Foul Bay, South Australia?
Bong Bong, New South Wales?
Yeah, nah.. it's gotta be... Come By Chance, New South Wales!!
"But my languid mood forsook me, when I found a name that took me,
Quite by chance I came across it — `Come-by-Chance' was what I read;
No location was assigned it, not a thing to help one find it,
Just an N which stood for northward, and the rest was all unsaid."
Well I actually didn't get the meaning of his post, simply because I speed read his posts to filter out the nonsense .
Now that I've actually gone back and read it , trying to understand it, it appears that to a NZer traveling around Australia is not exciting.
For Me it is exciting , because I like Australia .

This is TeakDoor...!
Used to work at the Navy base in Sydney Lancealot.
Garden Island, good times and plenty of money.
The shipwright I worked for had the contract for building the extra catamarans needed to ferry the extra passengers and Olympic tourists back in 1999.Will post up my old Aussie travel pics when I get a chance. Cheers for the flashback.
Cool thread, I carn't see the pics now, what's happened?
It's your thread and if you don't like a post, report it!
Drives Lulu into an orgasm
I used to live just up the hill from Garden Island,... Brougham St, Woolloomooloo, three houses up from the Butlers Stairs, short cut up to Victoria St, then a couple of jiggerry streets to Darlinghurst Road,....Kings X was booming those days,...never ending!
Halcyon days,,
A mate worked at Garden Island welding, knocked up a set of Ned Kelly armour for our "Colonial Days Re-enactments" group, ....fekn great times. in the sixties.
“Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? John 10:34.
Walked the butlers stairs coming back from work.
We used to race up them to see who was fastest.
Funny ole place when I lived there, stayed in a backpackers hostel for 6 months saving up for my jaunt around Asia.
Party every night and more roots that Screwed Punter could shake a stick at.
Halcyon times indeed

They are real place names in Aussie... wasn't my intent to disrupt your holiday thread, nor offend anyone's sensibilities. Just thought those place names were amusing...
Wish you a happy time in Auz... great place, great thread... Peace out.
Lancelot ... is it just me, or have your photos disappeared form this page?
I was in Australia last month. Perth and the south west. Hadn't been for about 6 years. Plenty of changes. Will also bung up a thread if anyone's intereeted
