If you listen again, it most likely wasn't his accent that fooled you but that very stereotypical french sounding harmonica type instrument.

That too, but when he pronounces the names of french brands and french places (Zizi Jeanmaire, Pierre Balmain, Boulevard Saint Michel ...), he sounds very french.

Also if I'm not wrong I believe what you call a "french sounding harmonica" is actually an accordion.
