I’ll try to be a little clearer.
Disco tainted the 70’s.
Rock was great during 70’s. I was going to Rock concerts at the Hollywood Sportatorium, old Miami Baseball Stadium, Pirates World and even the Miami Marine Stadium.
Disco was played heavily in clubs, on the radio and in some movies. Sure, it was very easy to avoid the clubs (although I went to one on several occasions), radio stations and those certain movies which played that taint. But it was still there.
Stating the 70’s was the best year for rock is a bit of a stretch and puts you back in a stuck in the past group. Younger generations might prefer the 80’s (disco was dead) for rock or even the 90’s. I kind of enjoy the 80’s and 90’s for nostalgia, but the rock stations I listen to now when back in the states are more current and play some wonderful rock music.
When in Thailand, I listen to SirusXM.
And not once have I hit that “The 70s Decade” button.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Absolutely Norts. I was the same. Motown was before my time but my parents loved it and had many a party listening to it.
Smokey Robinson, Isley Brothers, Temptations, Pointer Sisters and so many more.
Disco had its place and was fun times. I still find Rappers Delight by the Sugar Hill gang a funny song. I later really like the New Jack Swing music style. Was fun music and great for house parties.
Rock and Roll really took a dive with the hairball groups
Probably why so many hang on to these old groups that should have called it a career a long time ago, like the Stones, Eagles, Journey. They are long in the tooth but nothing out there. I absolutely never understood the hard-core death metal. It was a dark period in music IMHO.
^. Grew up with them. Saw them many times at local gigs before they took off. They did an incredible live performance with Carlos Santana and a few other bands to save the Graham Hill Ranch. Top stuff sitting on the roof of my truck with my brother and our GFs drinking beer.
