    ^look very nice.

I think the reason the big W40s have lasted is that I have always lived in apartments where they are just idling even at maximum allowable volume.

They have been in a 50sqm lounge-room with 4.5m ceiling for 3 years now so they are really working hard. I daresay they will fall apart sometime - hopefully not too soon

The height of my audio experience was Bang & Olufsen ortho-acoustic speakers but sadly the life had us parted. Now if this was about headphones, I guess many here travel quite a lot, I like to block sounds when flying. I used to swear by electronic noise cancelling (have many Philips) and perhaps I still do, but noise cancelling earplug style JVC in-ear headphones are great. And cost less than 1000b in Powerbuy, but when I went to buy spare one there werent any more left. It's Orange, and no charging required

Sorry did not find it on ebay. I guess it is gone, but hopefully new model is coming. Operates like real earplugs ie you squeeze them and put them into your ear. Helped me sleep on many flights.

    Yes please. Oh...

What I am speaking about could be something similar to this from JVC UK website:
HA-FXZ200-E | Real Sound System | Headphones | Product Centre | JVC United Kingdom
"Inner ear headphones with "REAL SOUND SYSTEM" reproducing real deep sound and high resolution mid-high frequencies".

I take my sound seriously, really.

These speakers are deliberately retro in feel thanks to a vintage-look mahogany veneer, recessed front baffle and tungsten-coloured grille. But take a look at the engineering and there’s a more cutting-edge flavour.

Wharfedale Denton review from the experts at whathifi.com

I was involved with what hifi in the 90s. Believe me, they were not experts.

A lot of the stuff given 5 stars was utter crap, just like the Castle speakers but it didn't stop fools from buying. Epos however, along with Spendor who used similar drive units and were often used at BBC studios were very good.

I had a shit hot system, but i got sick of it and went the way of multiroom audio back early 2000. I was in the trade at the time so got stuff very cheap.

With bluetooth headphones your choice is much more limited. Most are very basic. I have two Sony Ericsson thingies that have good range and bass, but I dont have them for flights because they run out of battery. 4-5 hours max.

What hifi used to rate anything that paid for regular full page adds. Mission, Cyrus, Audiolab and a few other. All of which were tested in their poxy demo room that consisted of one wall made of glass doors.

My first top system (1996?) consisted of QLN reference speakers which had an external crossover. Micromega transport with Monarcy DAC using Nordost cables.

Couple of years later i had Wilson Benesch Act1 with a full Chord pre/power and DAC on the trager system. Michell Gyrodec using wilson Benesch arm and MC cartridge.

Price for the speakers alone at the time cost 6570 pounds. I paid 1700. Kept them for two years and sold for 3 k, as i did with the rest.
