Pattaya : Tuck & Patti - For One Night Only

Tuck & Patti - For One Night Only
    Friday, 04 January 2013

The acclaimed San Francisco vocal/guitar duo, Tuck & Patti are coming to Pattaya “For One Night Only”. Women With a Mission (WWM), in conjunction with Amicus Foundation of Thailand, are excited to confirm the special benefit concert starring these Jazz & Blues virtuosos at Pattaya’s Hard Rock’s Hall of Fame on Sunday evening 13 January.

Tuck & Patti, who are coming to Thailand to perform at a private event late December, are thrilled to be invited down to Pattaya for this once only concert in support of WWM and Amicus Foundation’s work here in Thailand. Both organizations are dedicated to helping children at risk, developing educational opportunities and working with impoverished communities.

    Tuck & Patti.

For nearly 35 years, this unique vocal/guitar duo has cast its passionate musical spell worldwide, capturing the hearts of lovers, the respect of jazz buffs, and the jaw-dropping awe of guitarists and singers. They were married in 1981, and their recording career took off with 1988’s groundbreaking “Tears of Joy”.

Now, 13 albums later, they have toured the world incessantly as a duo, appearing at times alongside Miles Davis, Count Basie, George Benson, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and many others. They have long been regarded by musicians and critics as the standard for an improvising musical duo.

Their music spans Duke Ellington, the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix—rock, pop, jazz, gospel, blues, folk, world and classical—classics and originals, but inevitably finally just sounds like Tuck & Patti. Transcending categorization, Tuck & Patti are known for individual virtuosity in service of the greater goal of expressing love, hope and gratitude through music.

Musicians and music critics are unanimous in their praise.

“The best duo on the planet” – Bobby McFerrin, ten-time Grammy Award winner.

“Tuck & Patti are one of this country’s enduring treasures” – CNN Interactive.

“Not since Ella Fitzgerald met Joe Pass on stage has there been so felicitous a mating as Tuck & Pattie” – Leonard Feather jazz composer and music journalist.

“I’m gonna get Ella and come after you guys!” – Joe Pass described as one of the greatest jazz guitarists of the 20th century.

“Patti is my Foxy Lady” – Jimi Hendrix no description required.

Matthew Kelly, a legendary musician in his own right and residing with his wife Mary in Thailand, has been close friends with Patti going back to the late 1960’s.

“Mary and I saw this as a wonderful and unique opportunity to bring these two world class performers to Pattaya. We do get great musicians coming to Thailand, but mostly just to Bangkok. With this show Pattaya’s music scene will come of age. The Hall of Fame is such an intimate venue, perfect for this live concert. We (Amicus Foundation) are very pleased to be using this event to support the wonderful work that WWM do in this country. We are all so appreciative of Tuck & Patti’s willingness to contribute their time and talent.”

Matthew, founder of the legendary American rock band Kingfish and guest musician on several of the Grateful Dead’s albums, will share some of the time on stage with Tuck & Patti in a special guest appearance, but wants the spotlight to be on the famous duo and their unique blend of music.

The Hard Rock venue holds just 250 people in tables of ten. The ticket price of THB 1,900 includes a buffet meal, wine, beer or soft drink, and of course the concert, one of the greatest duets to come to town.

Tickets and tables will be selling fast and can be bought through the Hard Rock, or direct from WWM (Women With a Mission | NOURISH. EDUCATE. CARE.) or by emailing: [email protected]. Do not miss out – it’s “For One Night Only”.

NB: Please note there will be no door sales on the night. All tickets must be pre-purchased.

They'll feel at home in Pattaya.

He looks like one of those American middle-aged losers trying to find love in whoreville.

She looks like an Issan mamasan.

Kind of ironic that he plays support.
