Is the future safe for expats?

Or should we start thinking about moving on?

I have read on more than one occasion that Thais don't really like us or want us here, now this obviously is not the case with our good Thai friends and loved ones, but at the end of the day those special ones are human just like us... and just like us they have no control over the country's destiny.

I use the word Thai and Thailand to describe the unseen powers that run the show, the ones who will remain wealthy and powerful no matter what chaos ensues and no matter how unattractive Thailand may or may not become as a tourist destination in the future.

The good people, either race - will have to endure the effects of whatever will be.

Or is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Do you mean over to TV or Nationlite? Remember the chap who thought he saw alight at the end of the tunnel It was train coming towards him.Things are a lot better than 1976 ad most rural Thais have never been beter housed fed or access to medicine education Your affair with Thailand may have reached a hiatus but this magic realm will IMHO always attract those in search of fantasy of which as every car dealer knows are in endless supply

I have been listening to doosday peachers for the last 20 odd years and how the Thais are going to chew us up and spit us out.

If anything I find it easier to live and work here than I did 15 years ago and as the Thai middle class has grown we farangs seem to fit into the maze easier.

Those who have established themselves financially and family wise with a good solid job won't have much to be concerned about as the Thais seem more concerned about fighting amongst themselves and like always will leave us alone.

That's what I tell the doomsday preachers, but I guess we won't know for sure until the inevitable happens.

    Have a back-up plan:

    1. take bus to cambodia.

    2. fly home and mooch off of your family and get a job as a parking lot attendant.

    Problem solved.

One day, most farangs - except those near death - in Thailand will find you've crossed a river, turned around & found the bridge on fire behind you. Then you'll stand on the riverbank, watching & breathing deeply as your only chance of retreat goes up in smoke.

When the unspeakable event happens to he who must be obeyed, there will be much sorrow, hand wringing and a long period of mourning... Followed by business as usual as the power elite already have their hand on the tiller...

If the excrement hits the aircon unit, there's always the slow boat to China...

Listen to the little Thai nationalist!

Get real. There are far too many immigrants in the U.K. Compared to that, there are hardly any farangs in Thailand.

Farangs contribute greatly to the Thai economy and should be made to feel welcome. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

For the last time Thailand - This is the 21st Century. GROW UP!!
