BANGKOK, 18th December 2018 (NNT) - The Prime Minister is said to be delighted with the public's daily use of the recently opened Bearing-Samut Prakan extension of the Green Line Skytrain service, that has almost reached 70,000, stressing the government's commitment to improving public transport infrastructure.
Acting Government Spokesman Puttipong Punnakanta revealed today that the Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is very happy with the daily commuter numbers on the Green Line's Bearing-Samut Prakan extension which opened for a 4-months public trial on 6th December 2018.
The daily number of people using the service in the past week has averaged 70,000 passengers, showing good public acceptance of the Skytrain's expanded network that helps connect Samut Prakan with Bangkok's city center.
"The Prime Minister has stressed the government is working to speed up all projects to see positive changes in the country, especially the development of the public transport network to help the general public commute more conveniently and help alleviate road traffic congestion."
The opening of the Bearing-Samut Prakan Green Line extension follows the opening of the MRT Purple Line's first Bang Yai-Tao Poon section, becoming the second Skytrain launch in the past four years. Construction is still underway on other lines in Bangkok, including the Yellow Line, the Orange Line, and the Pink Line.
