Let's test weapons on U.S. citizens before using in battle...

Air Force chief: Test weapons on testy U.S. mobs

Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday.

Well, since the Pentagon is no stranger to use lethal weapons on its own soldiers this should come as no surprise.

US admits to 50 secret tests of bio weapons on troops - smh.com.au

Did you know that there's a law allowing the President or your government to conduct secret chemical or biological tests on U.S. citizens without notification or consent?

US CODE: Title 50,1520a. Restrictions on use of human subjects for testing of chemical or biological agents

This is a Thailand forum! I don't give a toss what YOUR president or YOUR government does to YOUR citizens. Why don't you post this crap on a US forum?

Thought the US outsourced the testing to S.E.Asian nations?

Are there not Americans in Thailand? Whoops, my bad.

Issues: There is much going on in the world and the opportunity to discuss these issues and how they affect your world is always relevant. Your opinion is important and though we might not solve the problems confronting society, we just might open someones eyes. What is your opinion?
Maybe me reading comprehension is off. Can you point out the word "Thailand" in the above description? Thaaaaaaaaaaanks.

The point being that if the government here is going to test weapons on peolpe here doesn't that affect relations with other nations as well? Is not Thailand a major ally of the United States? Would you be happy if future coup leaders in Thailand used weapons and/or techniques on Thai citizens sponsored by the Great Uncle across the ocean?

So, let's eliminate every thread that doesn't pertain 100% to Thailand. Wouldn't be much of a forum, would it?

^I suggest you start your own forum if talking about things outside of Thailand upsets you that much because I'm not about to stop posting threads on topics that bother you.

I actually like this retort ... but many of the seppo posters are even more determined to bash their homeland than even our Limey brethren

You're quite right surasak. You can post all you like about the US government/foreign policy/military/etc, but the chances of you "opening someone's eyes" are pretty much close to zero, as has been shown over the last several months. Most "discussions" on US politics and/or foreign policy end with no change in any members position, and more usually with a hardening of their position - and this is probably due to the style of posting in this forum which I find quite irritating and not at all conducive to useful discussion.

Most discussions in life don't end in changing anyone's mind period....but some do. There's no way to know beforehand what someone's position is or isn't until you start discussing something. How am I supposed to know what your position is unless you post your opinion? There are plenty of threads about the UK I find boring and you know what? I don't continue reading them. I don't pitch a fit and start posting "I'm really tired of all the bullshit UK threads here....this is a Thailand forum!" That's just so childish, it's about a childish as whining about moderation, whining about someone's avatar, or whining about some thread being deleted, moved, or edited. There are quite a number of people from the U.S. here and I doubt every single one is in Thailand right now and will never return to the U.S. Therefore threads about U.S. policy are relevant to a large percentage of the posters here. I even put "U.S." in the title of the thread as a clue and you still had to complain. I swear, it seems like every f'ing forum on the intarweb has someone that has to complain about topics he or she doesn't like.

Don't like it? Don't read it then! Is it that hard?

This is a forum with people from many countries, many backgrounds, many education levels, many desires, and many different occupations. If we posted threads that everyone agreed upon it would be extremely boring. Yes, it's a Thailand forum and the one thing everyone SHOULD have in common here is either the desire to live there or is living there now. That doesn't imply every thread will be about Thailand. Why aren't you posting in every single non-Thailand thread and complaining in those as well? You mean, no more photos of places outside of Thailand? No more games threads? You know how many threads on every forum here would be eliminated?

Nobody sticks a gun to your head and makes you click on any link to read the thread. It's not like the thread title says "Fun word games" and then it turns out to be a thread about some foreign policy blunder of the United States. And, lastly, nobody sticks a gun to your head to make you post in a thread you don't like. But you still had to complain.

well I think the "US is evil" has been beaten to death, above all with someone as articulate as surasak. Let's face it, dude, you are too smart and too articule in your arguments to "stimulate" any counter-discussion. I agree 100% with everything you say and I don't have much to add as you put all those arguments very nicely, but your opponents don't have the brain skills to counter-argue in a constructive manner so at the end, they have no choice but to retort to personal insults. It gets old after a while, no matter how "justifed" the arguments might be, to have the same gang bitting at the same baits with the same lines.

But keep on going guys, I find the "US is evil" debate "passe", because it has become a fact, and there is not much to discuss. I think Thailand politics recent events is much more interesting and has more potential for discussion.

    Just my 2 baht.

I agree that Issues has become rather focussed on topics relating to US politics in some way - understandable, since this superpower's economic and foreign policies shape part of all our lives to some extend.

Just a reminder that a wide range of topics is welcome here, ranging from history to science, philosophy and more.
This is not a "political" forum as such, though politics is part of it also.
