Anyone got a PAL Wii...
Just wondering if the stalls that sell the ripped dvd's also do Wii games and stuff?
if so are they any good? are they PAL?
Anyone got any feedback?
Cheers![]()

I wouldn't waste my time or money buying Thai copies.
Download the PAL versions yourself and burn to DVD.
It was more the fact that with limited monthly quotas at typical australia prices not too many games being downloaded each month
On average its taking about 6 weeks to download a 4gb game without being shaped - with a success rate so far of 60% I would be much happier paying a few bucks on the spot and be done with it
Are you saying you've only had bad experiences with ripped Wii games in bkk?

I'm saying they are shite quality. DVDs, games, all the pirated stuff is produced on the cheapest quality media.Originally Posted by cimboc
By doing it yourself you'll guarantee quality and that they work.
My mate buys games in BKK and 1 in 5 are usually unplayable.
At current exchange rates it will be $5 for a game. Spend the money on a better internet connection and a DVD burner instead.
Mortals you defy the Gods, I sentence you to travel among unknown stars, until you find the Kingdom of Hades, your bodies will stay as lifeless as stone.

Are you able to upgrade your connection for one month only?
Spend $50 or whatever on the super dooper fastest connection and download like crazy for the month then go back to your normal connection.
^ thanks MM but again in true aussie fashion they charge $20 admin fee for each change so that would be $40 straight up just to even think about it
Plus a mate who is on a massive plan is already downloading some for me but it still takes basically the same amount of time due to low seed numbers - all the bigger quota means is he shares it for longer![]()

Ahhh I see, good point.
So anyone out there who can tell me where the best quality games can be found in Bangkok as it will end up being me the poor sucker who has to buy them and then post them to him.
I never had a problem with the shops in MBK, if one doesnt work they will swap it for free.Originally Posted by MeMock

Not much use to me as I don't have a machine to test it on but if they offer that kind of guarantee then I suppose they might make a bit more effort to get it right the first time.
Where abouts in MBK and how much should I pay?
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
5th floor, (i think) near the knock off t-shirts.
I think I was paying 100baht per game. (xbox and xbox 360 though)
its all set price anyway mm

How do you know if you've never had a problem?Originally Posted by kingwilly
Mate here in patts buys dodgy Wii games, never had an issue with them.
if your having issues with lack of seeders for your downloads look into setting up a rapidshare account, cost 6.99 euro a month but your downloading from a server, not others computers.
I have no probs dropping 1 gig an hour from rapidshare.
Edit: doesn't the Wii need to be modded to play the copied games ??
The Meth One's Fuck The Best !!
erm, had one or two games that dont work, but they swap it no questions asked. therefore NO PROBLEM.Originally Posted by EmperorTud
yes, drop them into said shop. about 200 baht.Originally Posted by Fondles
one or two days.

I download any version Jap/US/PAL torrents and burn to DVD (Dual Layer in some cases) and play them all.
Check out the Homebrew channel, install the files there onto an SD card, and set up the Hombrew Channel on your Wii and presto!
Good to go!
Yer mate one of the first things to get done - can't play any ripped/downloaded games otherwise. Voids the warranty but when you way up the cost of games in the shop well worth the effort/risk
I've only been sticking with PAL but wiijunkies for Mac seems pretty good so might expand
Cheers for the Homebrew link I'd heard someone talk about it but hadn't researched it as yet so might have to get serious on the subject!

Yeah, it's pretty straight forward actually. If you read the site and download all the files you need and put them onto your SD card in a folder titled what they tell you to title it, you can play multiregion games, and it also comes with a few handy other apps. You will also need a copy of Zelda to install the HomeBrew channel, it shows up on your Wii just like the Weather Channel etc. If you do a YouTube search on installing the Homebrew channel there are a few video tutorials. Makes it a breeze!
Before this I used to use a disc called Freeloader but this no longer works. Those guys at Homebrew know there shiz, good bunch!
If you need any help, just let me know.
*Edit - one last comment I always use this before burning any Wii ISO to disc, just in case. Small little app to stop your Wii from getting bricked.

Actually I have done some updates based on games that require an update, and not had a problem. I'm of the belief it's down to the mod chip you have and the software update you're downloading.
So far I've never had an issue, but then I am always keeping abreast of the latest Wii hacks etc...
Nobody wants a bricked machine.
And yeah, there is more PC support for tweaks/apps/hacks etc... Hence why I've always stuck with a PC for day to day use.
I do use Linux and Leopard (triple boot machine on my home desktop - the Unbutu - Backtrack 3 is CD booted). But I generally stick with Windows - yeah I know!
Does the Mac not have a Windows boot disc for download so you can boot a Windows OS?

So to clarify: You have had several problems but the faulty discs were exchanged.Originally Posted by kingwilly
Bottom line: The games really need to be tested either at point of purchase or before they are sent out to Cimboc or taken home to Australia lest you'll end up with some expensive coasters.

I thought that when you chip a wii to play a copy you cancel the warrenty?
