    Small compressor: where to buy?

I'm looking for a small air compressor, it doesn't neen a tank or have to be too strong, just enough pressure to fill tires.

Years ago I had a tiny one in Australia that ran of a car battery. Something like this would be great. Although if it ran of mains power that would also be fine.

    Any ideas?

Look online, find it, pay with credit card and have freighted here to you.
Or have a friend [f ya got one] buy it and send it, or have shipped to his house if they will not do international and he can ship it.

BigC or Lotus Tesco sell the small ones with no tank
I've got one and it works but it is slow and not very good.

I would like something a bit bigger like a B&D Air station

Thanks for the replies, I only need a unit that can pump to around 30+ psi. How much are the small ones at Lotus? I've never seen them.

Regarding the B&D gear, I've never been keen on this brand. In Australia tradesmen consider it a 'handyman' brand and won't go near it. Maybe it's improved?

The PUMA air compresses with tanks are 4K, but apparently very noisy.

About 500 baht, but if you think B&D are crap (which they are) then wait till you see the quality of these things.

Your better off with one with a tank. Then you can use it for more than just blowing up tyres. I got a Puma, it's fine but if you want to paint better get a bigger one than the 5 hp I have. I use it for blowing excess water from all the nooks and crannies on the car after I wash it.

Schrader ( the people who make car tyre valves) make - or made a few years ago- a superb little unit. it ran on 240- 110 V AC- 24 and 12 voltsDC ( built in transformer and selector switch.
Absolutely 'bullet proof"- preset pressure cutoff - adjustable up to 85 psi .
Had one for years and it went everywhere in the back of the car.
Bought mine in the UK - wasnt cheap but worth every penny !
Thinking about it maybe a few years is wrong - more like 15 years !

Those sold in Auto shops with built in flourescent lights - warning lights - cigarette lighter and kitchen sink etc are useless! You could probably fart stronger than them !!

Does it pump up your car tyres? That's mainly what I want it for. Sure they may be peices of crap, but being so small and only 500B they'd probably do the job.

The B&D ones are advertised at $45 on the net, I'd be interested to see if I could get one at that price here.

    Yes. But it is slow.
It says 250psi but I can only get 60psi out of the two I have had.

    Faults.
    1) After 15 mins use the outlet pipe gets hot.
This will ruin the last half inch of the rubber hose after a while.
    2) The casting is an alumunium alloy and the screws are mild steel.
The casting screws vibrate loose after a while.
    3) The gauge is not accurate

The reviews of the B&D gear made it sound a bit of a toy. I've just had a look at some shops in Bangkok and was surprised to see some nice small compressers, including one with a tank. It was about 2.5K

The main thing with the cig lighter plug-in 12V compressors is to run your engine the whole time that you are running the compressor, if not, it will draw the top voltage off the battery in a short while and then the lower voltage will cause it to overheat and burn the motor up in the comp.

I had a real good one and some guys borrowed it and didnt run their engine and did burn my comp. up

I saw them along Suk 71 close to the Petchburi intersection. There's several shops selling gear for air con, gas lines etc.

The 12V compressors are B200 at Lotus.

I bet that is a good sumbitch for 200 baht,, I would think closer to 2000 for one I would consider.

But I do want a good one as my lungs will not stand pumping a manual tire pump no more.

Shit had to use mine this morning. Car got a puncture. Security was hovering like a hawk wanting to change tyre for me in return for a handsome tip. Fok that. Whipped out the little compressor, whacked it on. Took a long 10 minutes to pump in about 30PSI. Jeez...
