Britons arrested in Thai paedophile swoop
Sian Powell, Bangkok
div#related-article-links p a, div#related-article-links p a:visited {color:#06c;}Two Britons, a German and an American were arrested in Thailand this morning for alleged sexual offences against children. Officers from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) working in Britain infiltrated an online network and its officers travelled to Thailand to co-operate work with police in a joint operation.
The four men were arrested in different locations in Pattaya, a popular beach resort south of Bangkok, after early morning raids, and taken to Bangkok for questioning. A CEOP spokesman travelling with the team in Thailand told The Times that the suspects were allegedly involved in child sex abuse and using the internet for child pornography.
Police in Bangkjok displayed several images of children that were allegedly among hundreds of photographs and videos found in the possession of the four suspects, aged between 45 and 67.
At the news conference, one of the British suspects covered his face with a cap and glasses, while the second Briton tried to hide behind a small towel. Both protested that the publicity was unfair, since they had not been convicted. Thai police said that none of the suspects had been granted bail.

Eight boys and girls under the age of 14 had been identified as their alleged victims, Thai police said. The suspects were long-term residents of Thailand, and one of the Britons had lived in the country for more than 20 years.
"The Thai police are holding the suspects and taking them through the interview process," the CEOP reported. "The suspects will eventually be tried in Thailand." The CEOP team would shortly return to Britain, but its Operation Naga would continue, it said, and there could be more arrests in the near future.
Thai police said that the joint operation began about a month ago, and that the British-based agency had provided a list of as many as 50 suspected paedophiles."We are appealing to the victims of these paedophiles to come out so we can press more charges against them," chief investigator Police Colonel Suvichpol Imjairat told the press conference.
The alleged paedophile network was confined to Thailand, unlike that identified in Australia today. Nineteen Australians were arrested after a tip-off from Brazil last year, the Australian Federal Police said this morning. Referrals from the Brazilian police via Interpol had led to the identification of more than 200 potential offenders in 70 nations around the world, it said.
The CEOP said that there was no link between the Australian arrests and those in Thailand. Andy Wells, its deputy head of operations, said thatthe children found to be involved with the alleged Thai network would be cared for by care agencies and Pattaya's social welfare division.
It's chief executive, Jim Gamble, said that the CEOP had a valued relationship with the Thai police. "The UK and Thailand may have different legal systems and law enforcement practises, but we share a clear, joint commitment: to prevent harm to children."
THis is a major story in England at the moment. One of the Brits arrested had lived in Thailand for 20 years... Must be known by someone on the forum or over at Thai Visa. We Just need to wait for a username to go dead ..... .... I thought these scum bags had left but obviously not Another affirmation of the of the grot bag rep of white men in Thailand.
They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve
One of them has been arrested before for the same thing, the police let him go I think.
British man held on charges of lewd acts with minorsTourist Police arrest Robert Alexander Horsman.Chatchanan Boonnak
A British man has been arrested on charges of having sex with underage boys.
Police obtained an arrest warrant on March 16 and entered the Nongprue home of Robert Alexander Horsman, where they found the accused man and four boys under the age of 15. Two of the boys were 11 years old, one was 13 and the other 14. The boys, who were playing games at the time, were taken in for questioning.
During the subsequent investigations one 10-year-old victim told police that Horsman had invited him into his home to play games and then tricked him into performing lewd acts. The man had paid him 500 baht. The four boys taken into custody at the time of the arrest verified the boy’s story, telling officers that Horsman invited them to play games and bought sweets for them before committing the acts.
Horsman, who has refused to give a statement and denies all charges, has been charged with sexually assaulting minors and performing lewd acts.

You don't share a clear joint commitment or anything, if you did he wouldn't have been released by the Thai police last time he was arrested.Originally Posted by Some tosser

Ask Horsman.
4 hammers are winging their way to Thailand. For the 19 Australians charged this week we may need more than 19 hammers. These grubs included police, schoolteachers and a QC (queen's counsel, a very highly ranked lawyer). Unfortunately they will receive protection in custody.
^ I don't understand your post at all. What are you trying to say?
British again??
Sorry, maybe a bit cryptic for those unfamiliar with the practice of hitting pedophiles on the head with hammers.Originally Posted by watterinja

Arresting a few pedos as flavour of the month is not doing much about anything, and little more than sweeping the problem under the carpet.
If they really wanted to stamp it out they should start first with a warning and next by handing out 20s and 25s to the Thais involved in the trade. Targeting the supply would also educate the demand. Let everyone involved know that's what they will get, plus the loss of everything they have (demand) and earned (supply) out of the trade...that's part 1...part 2 is to do it, and part 3 is to send out the message that anyone abusing their position (from street cop through general to politican) to protect or assist demand or supply also gets it up the backside.
Hell, you could get 3-15 years for saying something less than complimentay about the King, or even inadvertently sitting with the sole of your foot facing his image.
Maybe that is why these uncivilised acts of pedophilia are practiced and tolerated by so many.Originally Posted by spiff

Hardly something Brit authorities could do in Thailand, is it?Originally Posted by keda
