The best I can do is this. In the U.S. they at least go through lengthy appeals processes (and still hang some inoccent people.)

Alcohol is debated, but if they eat pork, I would say they are not Muslim, but just telling people that they are.

most Turks drink constantly and a lot of them, including my ex wife both drank and ate bacion whenever we could afford the silly Istanbul prices.

I don't think the majority of Istanbulian Turks are any more muslim than the majority of brits are Christian, they just think they are.

Prolonged form of torture!

Under military law I believe you have to be executed within 6 months or else it is viewed as a form of torture and the sentence is commuted.
