I don't see a bum gun in that toilet, I hate that.

The food does look great, but they need to get some smaller plates. Ramsey would have a fit.

Not sure about a bum gun. Some guy walked in the toilet just as I took this shot. He looked at my a bit strange.

    Nice thread!

You have such lovely hands. Do you play the harp or is it too hard on your hands?

Interesting. IMHO the dinner seems wildly over priced. Lovely surroundings, nice decor, but the food, though I'm sure it was tasty seems ludicrously expensive for the ingrediants involved.

Maybe I've out bush too long. Still seems a tad over the top.

    Quantities not too good either.

I don't know where they get their food but they're not serving cheap ingredients from what it looks like. Among the listed ingredients are Aborio rice, gorgonzola, lots of heavy cream, parmesan, the sausages and such. Those sort of things can get pretty pricey here. The rent in that part of town isn't very low either. I seems pretty reasonable to me.

I will concur that the portions look a bit on the small side. But rissotto and gnocchi are pretty filling.

They kept bringing bread through the whole meal.

They've got to make their margins. Its menu balance. Some items will have 30% costs while others will run up to 60%. I think you'll find they're pretty competitively priced for that caliber of food in Bkk.

^Chi, do you know if they made their bread in house?

I still need mine for the time being, but if you're interested in getting one I can get them built at a pretty good rate. Just pm me for details.

That puke does not look appetizing. Saffron rice, eh?

I'll ask my, err, missus. She's the meet & greet lass there. If you want to know where they get anything else from, let me know and I'll find out for you.

It's owned by the miserable git who started L'Opera on Suk Soi 39, but this is a cut above that place food wise. Basically, the guy knows how to run a restaurant and has a real top-end chef. It's supposedly the best Italian restaurant in Thailand, but Tuddy knows a better one.

If you are doing lunch I would highly recommend Rossini's which is also at Asoke in the Sheraton. They do a set lunch for about 500 baht which includes a buffet starter, main course, dessert and coffee. You really get your moneys worth with the starter buffet - charcuterie, cheese, shellfish etc.

Perhaps BKkmadness can review it as he was there recently?

The Asparagus soup was lovely, I really enjoyed that. The veal very nice too, but not really sure how good that is supposed to be because never had veal before. They combined it well with the other veg. Not sure the dessert was anything too special, though I was never a dessert loving person.

Most definitely the starter buffet was the real treat there, nice selection of meats and cheeses and a variety of other treats including some fantastic tomato/feta cheese dish. I'll probably stuff a carrier bag inside my jeans next time and get my fridge filled up at home.

Service was excellent, though they did keep trying to take my plate when there was still food on it.

Actually the settings and decor of the restaurant was really good too, a relaxing restaurant to dine in.

At 500 baht it's a bargain really. I'd never have thought it was so cheap in a restaurant of that caliber. Definitely value for money.

Bangkok Restaurants and Bars at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit

Give it a go Chitown, you'll love it.

    ps. Happy Birthday!
