Interesting article, but this much publicised Redneck is a minority that, even if Obama can swing some of them to vote for him, won't have much impact on the overall election. He's probably better advised chasing more important demographics like the womens vote, and ordinary middle class Americans disenfranchised by Bush' economic policies.

Not likely Obama will have much success with the "poor whites" and will not spend much time trying. Generally the Dems will vote for him and the Reps will vote for McCain. Both candidates will need to convince the Independents. This is the battleground that will lead to victory.

Actually Obama polls quite well with the poor white voters. Slap on a red-neck and that is when his numbers tank:

What if we said Obama will receive over 95% of the black vote because he promises to increase welfare payments for all lazy blacks. That would be totally unacceptable, but if it is about “rednecks,” lies and negative stereotypes fit right into the worldview of the London Times.

when you use a statement to make your point its a good Idea to include the full sentence

I fail to see how that is racist as you cannot deny that there are a group of people who fit that discription. It does not say that every poor white person in america is a redneck.

One after another they all emphasize how they want peace and only use force reluctantly.
