It must have a nice size bathtub and cable with CNN.( I haven't seen CNN for years!) I guess Ratchadadumneurn Road/Kaosan area is okay too. Just some location where its easy to get on a bus or skytrain to get around town. I'd like to get away for a night tomorrow or Saturday. Any links would be appreciated.
Best place is the Star Hotel area which is within 3-5 minutes walk of National Stadium station.

You get off the Skytrain and it's on the opposide side from McDonalds/MBK Plaza. You have to walk up a small road and they are all on your left.

There are several hotels on this road one of which is the Star Hotel and it costs 300-600 baht a night depending on if you want a TV / Air con etc.
    They don't mind guests.
No Frills but clean rooms and comfy beds

A recent "find" for me is the Rompo Mansion. Rooms starting at 700 baht. Nice pool, great location next to Rama IV Tesco Lotus and "Carefour Thai". 5 minutes and 40 baht moto taxi to the emporium to catch BTS.
What I liked was no tourists stay there. Thai business people and longer term farang actors and models stay.
It kind of reminds of the Gramercy Park hotel in Manhatan.
And there's a typical "fishbowl" massage operation on the 2nd floor!

You've obviously recovered from your health problems Peter ?? or you've decided to just keep on partying and go out with a bang, slagdog or whatever.
