The Jazz is OK for around town.

I'd not like to think about driving one for several hours a day, for several days in a row, with three other people in the car. If you're driving in straight lines for 90% of your trip, the precise handling wouldn't mean nearly as much as a few extra inches of legroom.

If you're a leprechaun I suppose it wouldn't matter much.

He was obviously on a fact finding mission for more threads about the poor stupid Thai people. Must have let himself slip and actually enjoy the place for a bit. Maybe he should spend more time upcountry.

I'd love to buy a new model Honda Jazz but was told by the local dealer there is around 2 month wait from most dealers in Thailand right now.

Looks like a nifty little car.

I think you will find the story isn't finished yet, he has yet to tell us about how many TEFLers he run over during his travels round Thailand

re 900 baht a day to rent

Did that 900 baht include insurance and what's the excess on that? It's just that I'm going to be doing a trip from Jomtien to Chiang Mai at the end of the month. Going to take about 10-14 days touring.

^^ yep, excess is only a few thousand baht. Also 20,000 deposit is blocked on your credit card in case you decide to not return the car! Look in the bangkok post for promotions.

I think that TVR car rental does a special 10 day price at 5000 baht.

Sort of a long swim from here mate, rounding Singapore... etc. etc. Can't float on the fat.......

Else, wifey got her eyes on the new Jazz and are shouting off her mouth about the advantage (for me ?) that we buy one for her. Nice metallic blue it has to be, she also says. She's just a bit disappointed about the two months delivery time and that the rear roof spoiler (absolutely needed) is an option that she has to pay extra for.

I have a comfortable life in Bangkok and I all too often don't bother to go exploring off the beaten track. However, I always have a good time. Sorry for not sharing them with you more often and for using the forum to vent. The good stuff gets used for letters, emails, and phone calls home to people I acually know in the

Driving here can be fantastic once you know where to avoid.

I had a bmw (my first car) back when ant was still riding his bicycle to school.

There is nothing "classy" about mercs, bmws etc these days. They are simply for people who want to show that they are something special by spending money because their personality doesn't do it alone.
