Do openly gay men/women make good teachers?

Do you think that openly gay men and women (camp sissy boys types and butch dykes) are suitable to be teachers?

Not so much their ability to teach but as role models for the students.

straights and gays can be poor or good teachers in equal proportions without regard to sexuality. who people fuck (so long as its of age and consensual) is a meaningless consideration in judgeing worthiness as a role model. (all imo, obviously)

(please accept my unenthusiastic congradulations on a sure century, sq.)

Very poor role models in my opinion.

Agree with Obs that who they fuck is nobody's business. But mincing, prancing queers are simply poor role models for children -- it's inappropriate behavior.

Should teachers be allowed to dress up in clown costumes everyday? Should drill sergeants be allowed to teach 8-year-olds?
Should someone with a severe stammer attempt to become a teacher?
No to all. Physical, behavioral and psychological barriers are all legitimate reasons why some are not appropriate teachers.

If you want to be a queen, move to Pattaya and join the circus. If you want to be a role model for children, change your tone.

    What a dumb topic.

I've never seen a teacher deporting himself as a 'mincing, prancing queer' or 'camp sissy boys'....teachers are usually just drongos in corduroy jackets and cheap shoes.

The really bad potential male role model is the kid's ball-scratching couch potato Father himself.

Now why would you want to bring Scampy into this, he has not been a teach in years that I know of..

Jason [Ray Carey] is surely a queer and he teaches school for 26k a month.

Has any poster here actually used one of their teachers, when they were a child, as a role model?

    I know I didn't.

Were they a bunch of prancing, dramatic prom queens?

That explains it. You had to wait until uni to encounter a decent role model.

I've known a number of openly gay teachers, not mincing types, and they were great teachers or bad teachers, as per heterosexual types.

I've also known some openly gay teachers with a chip on their shoulders about it, and no, they were not good role models.

Up to the individual circumstances, IMO.

    Good point.

Does Thailand allow kathoeys to be teachers? Why or why not? It's up to individual societies/communities to determine what's a good role model.

In Britain, for example, where about 45% of all males are either soccer players or openly gay (usually both) they can't avoid but having a few camp cheerleaders singing showtunes and constantly playing with their hair in front of 25 or 30 impressionable students.

The outcome is obvious -- it's what the society considers normal.

Perhaps not to you or me. Evidently it's important to them.

If I were god, where I come from, openly queer, camp, prancing queens need not apply.

Maybe you think they'd be "simply fabulous!"

Haven't said anything about teaching ability

It's about the way they act. Is a mincing namby pamby gay voiced teacher good for the students?

Not unless you want a generation of mincing, namby-pamby, gay-voiced kids.

For better or worse, children, to a great extent, mimic what adults do.

Fasten seat belts, strike out in violence, swear, show affection, exercise ... and these children spend more hours with teachers than with parents.

One safe bet is that Texpat will account for at least half of those with a topic title like this. He sure dangdiddley loves writing about fags !

His 'reload current page' button is gonna be worn out today.

^ I'm as straight as they come.
If you're gay, that's OK by me.

    The issue is camp teachers.

    Please try to keep up.

If I found out my kids school teachers were gay I would be asking for them to be removed or my kids changed to another class. If gay teachers want a job teaching they should work at gay schools only

Right on Rigger, I feel the same as you about fags, they are OK as long as I have nothing to do with them and they in turn stay away from me.

Yep, sure do.... and not the type you see down Pattaya that might actually pass for a really ugly woman after 15 pints.... no just an ugly man in a dress.

I have never met a male Thai English teacher that I could say for certain was not gay. I would say most Thai teachers are bent.

    We call the Kathoey "Bob"

It's fine as long as they keep their hands to themselves, but most of them don't.

    Situation A:

A young female teacher who enjoys the party scene. Calls in sick at least twice a month.

    Situation B:

Male gay teacher who has a steady partner. Does not exhibit any 'camp' behavior. Never called in sick.

As a employer, who would be the best teacher for your school?

    Been there, done that...

a lesbian would be a terrible teacher because of their inherent hate of men, they can't be models for kids

I think gay, queens teachers might actually be better, not as models, but their sense of sensitivity could be very useful in the classroom,

Men IMO are better teachers than women, even if they are gay. Women have too much to prove in the classroom, and are too highly emotional. A gay queen could be the perfect balance between the two.
