Another honor killing. Another example of how f*cked this culture and religion is.

The Yanks and Brits should have stayed out in the first place.

But my heart goes out to the innocent people who are killed not only by the Yanks and Brits, but by the sick Muslim, Arabic, middle eastern people who I think I sub-human.

Never heard GWB or Tony B Lair say the reason for invading Iraq was to prevent "honour killings" when the occupying forces started screwing the local girls?

Sounds like a pretty weird excuse for a war.

Not under Saddam he wouldn't have been. Makes me long for the old glory days, when Iraq had the highest standard of living, education and life expectancy in the Arab world. Women wore western dress, and 47% of the doctors were women. Iraq was secular then- overt displays of religious extremism were punishable by death.

Still, just because most of the doctors have fled now, Iraq is a tribal fiefdom again, and religious extremism is back, I guess thats a small price to pay for 'freedom and democracy'. Better to be murdered as an oppressed woman no doubt in 'Free Iraq' than prosper as a doctor under that tyrant Saddam Hussein.

More American success that we don't hear about in the lamestream media

Iraqi Security Forces have succeeded in temporarily pacifying Basra.

Even the most diehard Iraq hawks want to reduce the U.S. military footprint in Iraq and lean more heavily on Iraqi Security Forces to do the hard work of defeating insurgents and sectarian militias. Which is why recent developments in Basra have been so encouraging. At first, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's decision to confront Moqtada al-Sadr's Iranian-backed militas looked like a major strategic misstep. Now it appears to have transformed Iraqi politics, potentially paving the way for real reconciliation between Sunni and Shia.

Let's hope so. If the peace can be sustained it does bode well for Iraq.

McCain predicts troops will be out of Iraq by 2013

WASHINGTON - Sen. John McCain looked into the future Thursday and predicted that American troops would return home in victory by the end of his first term as president in 2013.

"By January 2013, America has welcomed home most of the servicemen and women who have sacrificed terribly so that America might be secure in her freedom. The Iraq War has been won," McCain said in a speech in Columbus, Ohio.
"It's not a timetable; it's victory. It's victory, which I have always predicted. I didn't know when we were going to win World War II; I just knew we were going to win," McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, told reporters. "I know from experience, you set a day for surrender—which is basically what you do when you say you are withdrawing—and you will pay a much a heavier price later on."

Looks like the US isn't going to get control of the oil, so may as well pull out now.

Rasmussen Reports suggest that Americans know we are more likely to succeed in Iraq if John McCain is President.

By 49% to 42%, respondents say it is "likely is it that the U.S. would win the War in Iraq if McCain is elected president."

On the other hand, only 20% think that if Obama is elected, we are likely to succeed. How about that campaign theme for ya! A vote for BO is a vote for faliure!

A polling institute makes a survey where a small majority (diff is 7%) is of the opinion that "it is likely".
Wtf has it to do with knowing? ("suggests that Americans know").

You're reading the poll result like satan is reading the bible. As usual.

Guess it depends on how one defines success. If you want to cite polls, how about the ones that indicate approx 72% want the US out of Iraq within a year. Think they will have achieved success by then. Think not!!

Ipso facto, a vote for Bush was a vote for success.

And do you think the average American knows anything about Iraq, (or anywhere else for that matter) apart from what they see on the domestic news?

How come the Lamestream Media is ignoring the latest Good News from Iraq, eh?

"The Media totally ignored the Petraeus hearings this week on progress in Iraq.

Was this by accident?... Or, was the news just too much for the American public to handle?... Do you think they'd ignore the news if violence was at a 4 year high instead of a 4 year low?"

    Oh...btw, the Surge is working...heh
