They dont, but since when should anyone roll over and just accept what is happening around them when they know it is wrong?

That would be a weak bunch of individuals who did that, maybe it happens in the US, in the UK however it seems people have more backbone and will stand-up for what the believe is fair an just.
Indeed, bite the hand that feeds. Strong -- not weak! We resist! What sort of perverted loyalty is that? Players and managers come and go in every sporting team around the world. Players protest at their peril. Not much of a businessman are you EN? Coaches/managers are replaced routinely usually based on poor performance or inability to gel the squad. It ain't unique to soccer. It ain't unique to UK.

Is it wrong, as you suggest? Perhaps a popular unproductive player or trainer should be retained because of his classic party tricks and jokes.

Management exists for a reason. You're wrong. Your US comparison is as flawed as your misplaced nationalism.

You gonna keep a turd, non-performing manager because a few [employees] have warmed up to his bar tricks?

    um, yeah.

Snakes runnin' the henhouse? These owners sell. They don't own.

Tex, what you say makes sense, but simply doesn't apply to premiership football..., which is a mad world of player-power and, well, madness!

Players will come and go depending on their relationship with present and prospective managers. In actual fact this is what happened when Sven came to Man City, 15-odd new players (essentially a new team) and this is the reason why they will seek transfers in the close season unless otherwise appeased...

Also, Thaksin's stated aim was a top-10 finish this season. Mathematically at this stage the lowest they can finish is 9th and the highest 6th, so if anyone has moved the goalposts, it is Mr T, rather than Sven...

^ Voice of reason. Does it appear the players should impose an Olympic (outrage for nothing) protest against a management that pays salaries for negligible returns (if you ask players who claim they're the ones who win/lose games?)

Tex - I dont think anybody would complain if Sven had not been doing his job, but he has. When he took over he said that he would get City into the top 10 of the premier league, which he has done. For a team that for the last couple of years have been languishing around the relugation zone, he has turned them around. It would seem that square face wants instant result which he aint got - so someones got to take the blame.

    Latest odds
Scolari Odds Shorten for Man City Job

The Scolari Odds shorten as speculation continues that Manchester City Manager, Sven Goran Eriksson, will leave the club

Scolari, Head Coach of Portugal and former World Cup winning Coach with Brazil, is currently quoted as short as 2/1 to take over at Eastlands, a significant shortening since yesterday, when he was quoted as 4/1. He has yet to be drawn himself on the speculation, but it is known and obvious that he will be concentrating exclusively on guiding Portugal to a successful EURO 2008 campaign. However it is known that he shall be leaving this post after the Tournament. Ironically, he was once favourite to take over from 'Sven' as England Coach, but he decided against it, due to UK media intrusion. Odds courtesy of Paddy Power - Claim a £30 Free Bet
Other notable names to emerge in the running for the job are Slaven Bilic, former Aston Villa and Everton defender, who is now the successful coach of Croatia. Bilic is quoted as 6/1, Frank Rijkaard, who is still, at least for now, the Coach at Barcelona is quoted as 8/1. Sam Allardyce and Mark Hughes are both quoted too, at 10/1 each.

Manchester City fans are clearly angry at Club Chairman, Dr Thaksin Shinawatra, but will their anger have any bearing on a man that used to be Prime Minister of Thailand. Perhaps Shinawtra believes that Sven has done his job and has moulded the team into a good Premier League side, and thinks that Scolari is the man to make them great...who knows?

Props, I have no idea of Man U's successes. Just playing the wind-up meister.

As with any sporting teams coaches/managers, they live and die by their W-L record. I've seen winning coaches sacked for not getting the team into the playoffs.

Ultimately, it's a business. And if a losing team can keep the seats filled with ass, it's not much of a problem. If they can't -- they're gone.

Actually, that is incorrect. There are a variety of 'unusual' investors in Premiership football, from rich fans, who want to shower their money on a club (Mike Ashley - Newcastle United), to Russian Billionairs, wishing to achieve a high profile to prevent easy assassination (Roman Abramovich - Chelsea).

    and it's not business?

    Um, it is.

Even with rabid fans who wish success -- it's a business proposition.
Don't pretend it doesn't happen elsewhere. You've no monopoly on stupid investors/fans.

As any Man city fan will tell you, Sven was not what could be considered "non performing" They were in the top 4 for a long time. Most man city fans could hardly believe it.

^^Too tired to argue the point, but you will find plenty of examples of non-business 'investment' in football. Google Mike Ashley for a start and you will see what I am talking about..

Then you could try Quinn at Sunderland, my club's own 'saviour' Daniel Levy, et al. It is simply beyond the ken of busnessmen and those not connected to football....

Manchester City believe they could lose club captain Richard Dunne amid a mass revolt among players over Thaksin Shinawatra's decision to sack manager Sven-Goran Eriksson. (The Independent)
And City owner Thaksin has offered Jose Mourinho the chance to replace current Eastlands boss Sven-Goran Eriksson. Intermediaries for the Thai have already approached Mourinho through his agent Jose Mendez. (Daily Express)
I'm sure the fans will forgive him if he gets Jose, but I doubt he will.

Anyway, Taksin won't be too unhappy, because he knows that if all else fails he can come back to Thailand and get Tex to suck his cock

So Thaksin is sacking the coach because attendance is down? If not then it's a poor "business" decision as well antagnostic to the players, er, employees.

I wouldn't bother arguing with Tex as he's already admitted he's trolling. He prefers a real man's game...
