If I didn't have Children, I could easily live in Vientiane, the local people seem great and there is plenty of good food and wine around. I dunno how easy it is to get the visa problem sorted.

I understand that it's easier to get a Lao visa than a Thai Visa.
I agree that it is a tempting alternative to Thailand. Lao people don't do all that Ka & Kraping that Thai people do, but they seem to be somewhat more genuinely nice.

Nope, actually it was Lak Si railway station which is just down the road from me.
