Helmets in Thailand seem to average about 200 Baht. This is how much value Thais place on their own life.

^ Eric, AO, and Cantona, according to forum commentary
i thought cantona was about 23.
i am surprised by the early aging.

OK, FWIW, I was told on Friday night by a mate of his that he was going home at night on his motorbike and 'took his eyes off the road' and whacked up the back of a stationary lorry. Whoever wants to can draw whatever inference you like from that, as I have no further details.
As to whether he had appropriate insurance, I also do not know.
Still a Pink Floyd space cadet

Yes, when I wanted to buy a decent helmet here 3 years ago, I struggled to pay more than about 900 baht, and that was after a long search.
A bit less than the £400 or so cost of the cheaper helmets in the UK. Even aside from the normal over-pricing of rip-off Britain, it was minimal, to say the least.

Pissed perhaps? at least no pain or memory, still sad to see such a happy go lucky chap die die anyway..Originally Posted by Mister Fixit

i originally posted on ajarn that he was hit by a truck but that was wrong.
ruaraidh was taking a left turn at an intersection and he hit the back of a truck that was parked there........obviously no lights or warning signs. i presume ruaraidh was checking for traffic from his right and didn't see the truck.
he was coming back from a private lesson so drunkeness doesn't figure.
also....he wasn't wearing a helmet but there's no point in wrestling over that issue. he's gone and no internet debates will change that.
cheers.
What's with the fact that about 5 or so posters over there all have avatars of his face now?
a little on the less than tasteful side I would have thought
^^^ I guess it's this electronic medium. Not really good for expressing strong emotions. Do what you can kinda thing.
Makes things a bit confusing though.

Isn't parking on junctions illegal in Thailand?
He must have been travelling at some speed. What a horrible way to go. Being drunk might have made it less so. Although, if suffering a head injury from an over-the-handlebars impact like that (presumption) he wouldn't have known much compared to, for example, falling off the bike and then being run either, either with shattered bones or gouged-off limbs and pieces of body but still concious until bleeding to death.
In in gory mood, sorry![]()
Got to agree, although here it seems to be 200baht helmets on 200baht heads, another idea would be to pass some sort of driving test legitimately, although i have to admit being guilty to the former and even not wearing a crash helmet at times, real dumb thing to doOriginally Posted by Bexar County Stud

i have just head banged the wall quite slowly with and without the helmet.
it hurts less with a shit helmet, believe me.
Invest in a real helmet. I know there's places in Pattaya that sell 'em and BKK for sure. I bought mine the last time I went home.
Macho posturing is for pussies.
BTW, did the great Bangkok Phil show up for the send off?
