^Why are reporters your fall guys?

Its a police matter. (Besides this country is crazy about libel suits - and has been for decades)

"Excuse me Mr Rich and Powerful politician, does your wife know you get fellated by 13 year olds? ....Oh, ....you have just put a contract out on me and my family"

....he'd buy out the assassination contract, but he can't because the reporter only earns a pittance, and most of his work gets copy and pasted online and he doesn't receive a brass farthing for that.

Anyway, should I give a job to a drug convict who was done for possession of a couple of spliffs 12 years ago and assume that the Thai Government are incapable of finding out or not?

    What is a 'child'?

I’d like to know what your definition of pedophile is. Under 18? (one day under?). How about a willing 15 year old sexually active teenager—I won’t call her a ‘girl’ since she can get pregnant—should a man go to jail for years for having sex with a willing 15 year old teenager? 15 seems to be a cutoff age in Thailand below which the ‘crime’ is prosecuted more seriously, and the adult ‘offender’ seems to receive a longer sentence.

Wikipedia: “Pedophilia is the primary or exclusive sexual attraction by adults to prepubescent youths. …The term pedophile is also used colloquially to denote an adult who is sexually attracted to adolescents or youths below the local age of consent.”

So, the word can mean two different things, depending on what the agenda of the prosecutors/accusers is.

I understand why there are laws against having sex with children, children being defined as not having reached sexual maturity (‘prepubescent youths’ in Wikipedia’s terminology). I don’t understand the ‘foaming-at-the-mouth’ ‘string-em-up’ mentality when two people who aren’t children decide to have sex.

In the United States female teachers have sex with their male students and often only get slapped on the wrist. These female teachers are not met with the same kind of hysteria guaranteed to hit a man if he has sex with a 17 year old, or a 16 year old, or a 15 year old. I remember a couple of female teachers and other older women from my teenage years who I wished would have had sex with me! It would have been an educational experience.

A 16 year old boy can have sex with a 15 year old girl (I did when I was 16), and not worry about facing a long jail sentence. “Aw, look at the cute kids having sex.” But, watch out if you are a man over 21. “You monster! I hope you have lot of money for a defense attorney! Cause we’re gonna lock you up and throw away the key! Bad, bad man!”

Teachers, and others in positions of power and authority over teenagers, are understandably expected not to have sex with their students/underlings. But when there is no ‘power dynamic’, and the sex is consensual, willing, loving and joyful—and the youth is over 15, let’s say--then why throw a man in jail for years for this? (Isn’t 15 the age of consent in one or more states in the USA?)

Yes but make take a bribe from him first, TIT.

A guy in the Uk is taking the police to court over a problem he had with a recent job application he made. The company did a search on his criminal record and found that he had been done by the old bill for using old bolt washers in fairground slot machines when he was a kid, aged 16.....in 1983.

You have taken my statement out of context, something someone such as yourself who has harped on journalistic principles, should know better than to do. My writing speaks for itself so I won’t bother to defend in detail your post.

Regarding your statements elsewhere that Teakdoor could be interpreted as ‘promoting’ pedophilia by its numerous posts on the subject, and could ‘help’ pedophiles in their search for prey—I think the opposite is true: would-be pedophiles reading Teakdoor will surely be sobered by what awaits them in Thailand if they are caught. They will actually be less likely to come to Thailand to attempt sex with prepubescent youths. In other words, Teakdoor serves as a deterrent to this type of behavior. The Thai authorities should give Teakdoor a medal for crime awareness and prevention—not shut them down as you hysterically have suggested elsewhere may happen.
