    Phuket hotel culture clash

Mum and dad are visiting Thailand next month. Spending a week in Phuket.

    Here's the rub.

Daddy's a retired tycoon with money to burn and wants shoe-licking service. Mum hasn't touched the handles of her well-worn Armani suitcases since purchased last year. No consiegere, no fold-down, no service. Fine wine in frosted glasses, Persian rugs on which to snuff out Cuban Romeos.

I'm a blue-collar burger-eatin' grunt that likes hotels nearest to go-go bars. My wife likes to point out the skankiest hos on the promanade and helps me pick up a few bottles of Leo on our way home (classy broad). We'd steal ashtrays and handtowels if we thought we'd get away.

Askin' pops to spring for both rooms is out of the question (too proud). He's left arrangements up to me.

Q: Seeking a hotel/resort that will feed daddy's ego without breaking my bank ('bout 2000-2500 /nite) . Any suggestions?

PS Don't get me wrong, love 'em both. (wife & skanky hos)

    NO, No! mum & pops.

Don't think they will want Expat Hotel (nice clean near every thing you need). Try, Baan Karon Resort Hotel around $50 in August. But if you have a little more $$ Woraburi Resort Hotel at 199, 201 Patak Road, Karon Beach. Is very nice and may please your folks. Maybe consider having them stay in upper crust hotel while you are in a less posh hotel? Try Australia hotels, Singapore hotels, Thailand hotels, Malaysia hotels, Japan hotels it may help you or PHUKET HOTELS AND RESORTS Thailand / accommodations at phuket island good luck.

without being facetious, try using some of the phone numbers in the lonely planet book, i've often found they list a few middle end and top end hotels that the backpacker lot never use, but generally a very nice.

Are you a thai resident ? if so you'll get a good discount also, check out the bangkok post travel sections....
